Abraham Lincoln was born in February 12, 1809, in a log
cabin in Kentucky. His family moved to Indiana when he
was 7.
Lincoln himself stated that he had about one year of
formal education. He loved to read and learn from any
books he could get his hands on.

Lincoln became a
lawyer.
Abraham Lincoln’s mom Nancy died when he was nine
and his dad, Thomas, remarried a woman named Sarah
Bush Johnston.

Lincoln got married to Mary Todd. Mary and Abraham
Lincoln had four sons. Their names were Robert, Edward,
Willie and Tad.

Lincoln began his political career in 1832 at age 23 with an
unsuccessful campaign for the Illinois General Assembly as a
member of the Whig Party.
On March 4, 1861, Lincoln became the
16th President of America.
President Abraham Lincoln did not want
slaves.

The south
wanted
slaves but
the north
did not.
Then the Civil War came and
America split.

The Civil War


began in 1861.
The North won in
1865.
On Good Friday, April 14, 1865, Abraham and
Mary Lincoln went to the Ford Theater to see a
play.
Lincoln was shot by John Wilkes Booth at the Ford
Theater. He died the next morning .
He is considered by many historians to
have been the greatest American
president.
President Lincoln’s memory has been honored in a variety of
ways including the penny, five dollar bill, Lincoln Memorial and Mt.
Rushmore
