This document provides steps to configure and check network connection settings on a computer. It instructs the user to access network properties and configure the IP address, subnet mask, and gateway. 1. Right click on My Computer then click properties.
2. On Network Connection Window, right click on Local Area Connection
and click Properties. 2. Select Internet Protocol (TCP/IP) then click Properties button. 3. Assign the IP Address, Subnet Mask and Gateway. Click OK when you’re done. 1. Click Start button then click RUN. 2. Type CMD then press ENTER. 3. In the command prompt, type ipconfig /all then press Enter. You should see the IP Address, Subnet mask and gateway. If the IP address is 0.0.0.0 , or 169.x.x.x, then something is wrong with your network connection. 4. To check the network connections, type ping –t “IP address” (IP address of other computer) or ping –t “computer name” (computer name of other computer) then press enter.
