TROUBLE SHOOTING TOOLS
Airbus Test set PN 98L36103002 or Liebherr Bleed Test Set PN 99127B03
Portable Test set allows to check pneumatic integrity of valves and sense lines
without any component removal.

“AIR ENG HPV FAULT”
Origin: The HPV failed to open (engine at idle, top of descent,…)
2. Check HPV position indication. If the HPV position indication is not correct, replace the HPV
How? By manually actuating the HPV, check that the ECAM indication
corresponds to the actual position of the valve
Why? A leak of the sense-lines would vent the opening chamber of the HPV
and prevent it from opening
How? Apply 20 psi at HPV test port and check for audible leaks/whistling noise
5. If the fault continues, replace the Solenoid 4029KS (V2500) or 11HA (A319/CFM).
6. If the fault is still present, replace the Pressure Transducer (Pt) 7HA.
Why? A Pt drift could lead to a spurious information ‘HPV opening expected’

MAINTENANCE TIPS - TO REMEMBER
To reduce the number of NFF replacement and avoid repetitive FAULTS, perform
advance trouble shooting task BEFORE REMOVING any Bleed Monitoring Computer
(BMC). HPV is controlled and operated pneumatically.
The BMC BITE does NOT confirm the integrity of the system.
During troubleshooting, it is very important to check the integrity of all pneumatic sense-
line connections, in between the valve and solenoid.
Use of the bleed test set (Airbus or LTS) and associated tools for valve test, sense line
leakage or troubleshooting.
Valve (HPV) position indication (including wiring) can be checked by manually actuating
the valve and checking the position indication displayed on ECAM bleed page is in
accordance.
Electrical Connectors:
- Damage of an electrical connector can lead to a faulty valve position indication or a faulty
open/close command.
- Specific attention should be paid condition of harness connectors to avoid unjustified
valve removals and repetitive faults on aircrafts.

PNEUMATIC CONNECTORS:
- Damage of sense line connections can lead to leaks which results into drift in regulation,
and or valves locked closed. S/L 1 is particularly sensitive to leaks.
NOTES:
S/L 3 through TLT 10HA
CAUTION :
Sense line is pressurized by restrictors located in HP
Valve (4000HA) and PR Valve (40001HA).
The flow rate of these restrictors is low, thus any
leakage can generate :
- Sense Line 1 ⇒ HPV failure to open.
