2.0 - System Orientation :
2.1 – System Description – Chilled Water Pumps
There are total three Chilled water pump rooms. The main pump room is located in Chiller Yard
and comprises of 4 nos. Primary pumps of 50 L/s each & 3 nos. Secondary Pumps of 66 L/s
each.
The Secondary pump serves chilled water to the Tertiary pumps located in Player’s Club House
& Grand Stand respectively through pre-insulated HDPE pipes laid underground
There are 2 Tertiary pumps in Club House Pump Room each of 36 L/s & 2 Tertiary pumps in
Grand Stand Pump Room each of 52 L/s.
These pumps are of Centrifugal end section type complete with Cashing, internally self flushing,
mechanical seals, flexible couplings, base frame and motor. Split casing design allows
servicing of bearing & seal without disturbing to piping.

3.1 – Controls and Interface details with other systems.
Chilled water pumps shall be controlled through VFD except primary chilled water pumps.
switch installed in primary chilled water pups shall shut off pump if the pressure
difference across the suction & discharge line of the pump is falling below then the set
point.
In the event of receipt of an alarm on the secondary chilled water pump, the faulty pump
shall be kept as a last priority until the fault is rectified.
Interface with BMS

Check the coupling alignment
Check the base frame springs
Check motor cooling fan is working properly
Check for any leakage in pump seal
Check for any abnormal noise and vibration through pumps

SHUTTING DOWN
CLOSE THE VALVE IN DISCHARGE PIPE RIGHT BEFORE (MAX. 30SEC) SWITCHING OFF THE
MOTOR.
SWITCH OFF MOTOR (MAKE SURE IT RUNS DOWN QUIETLY).
CLOSE THE VALVE ON SUCTION SIDE.
CLOSE AUXILIARY SYSTEMS. DO NOT SHUT DOWN COOLING SYSTEM UNTIL PUMP HAS COOLED
DOWN.
CLEANING OF PUMPS
THE PUMP MUST NOT BE CLEANED WITH PRESSURISED WATER.
DIRT ON THE OUTSIDE OF THE PUMP HAS AN ADVERSE EFFECT ON TRANSMISSION OF HEAT.
THE PUMP SHOULD THEREFORE BE CLEANED WITH WATER AT REGULAR INTERVALS.
