Parts of the Excel Window
Microsoft Excel
 It means that it is a spreadsheet application program
included in Microsoft Office and its full name is
Microsoft Office Excel.
 A Microsoft Excel has the standard feature of an
electronic spreadsheet which uses cell that are
represented in rows and columns designed to perform
basic arithmetic operations.
 It is also widely used in accounting and financial
applications, as well as in statistics and
engineering calculations.

 And the program supports and displays graphs,


charts and histograms from a given set of groups
of data.
What is a Worksheet?
 It is an on – screen spreadsheet that
contains various cells in columns
 By entering information in the form of
labels, values and formulas into the
worksheet cell, you create tables or
spreadsheets, useful for summarizing,
tabulating, and analyzing data.
Worksheet looks like
The MS Excel has 14 parts/Elements.
1. QUICK SESCAC  It provides access to the most common Word commands including Save, Undo, Repeat

and Copy. You can customize, add or delete buttons on this toolbar.

RIBBON  It contains the commands organized in three components a. Tabs – provides access to many
tools and contain related
groups
b. Groups – organize related
6. NEMABOX
NAME OBX  It shows the cell reference of the active cell. This can also be used commands. Group name
to locate a cell. appears below the Group

7. LUMAFORBAR
FORMULA RAB  It is the area where we can enter or edit text or formulas. each group

8. CEATIVCELL
ACTIVE LECL  It is a cell that is selected. It is indicated in the Name Box at the Formula
Bar.
 it is a rectangular area where a column and a row intersect.

CELL
 Each cell is identified by a cell reference which is its column and row
location.

10. HETERKSOW
WORKSHEET  Each workbook contains worksheets with sheet tabs located at the bottom
of the worksheet.
 The sheet tab identifies the name of the worksheet ( example Sheet1,
Sheet2, Sheet3 )

11. BOKOKROW
WOORKBOOK  This is a file that contains one or more worksheet, which you can use to
organize various kinds of related information.
 And always remember that workbook contains worksheet with sheet tabs
located at the bottom of the worksheet.

START BUTTON It is the main menu and the access to all programs and files available in
your computer.
 It is also used to shut down or restart your computer.

 It contains the button sized files that are open

worksheet.
