About us

The Information Technology Services Department known as ITSD


We are an Enabling Function within Skanska UK and fulfil the IT
requirements of each Operating Unit (OU) and Enabling Function
(EF) within Skanska
We provide and support to a number of centralised core services
and business specific applications

IT Service Desk

− The aim of IT Service Desk is to help you resolve


problems you may have with your computer/
software/printers/telephone etc.
− Contact the IT Service Desk by calling: 0344 561 3777

Hours of business: 08:00 – 18:00 Monday to Friday

Online help

− We have created a number of IT Help sheets to assist you


with using the software on your pc.
− There are accessible from the IT pages on OneSkanska –
under ITSD self help.
− We have user guides for Microsoft Office programs, Windows
OS, Microsoft Lync, Video Conferencing, iPhone tips and
tricks and working remotely.
− You can also access Microsoft’s online training portal where
you can follow any of Microsoft Office self paced
training programs.

Quest Password Manager

− You now have the ability to reset your own logon password
24 x 7 x 365 without the need to call the IT Service Desk
− Register your details on the Quest enrolment page and
once registered you will be able to reset your password
when connected to the Skanska network at any time.

Collaborating

− ITSD support many collaborative services to help you


communicate with colleagues and clients across sites,
these include:
− Video Conferencing
− Audio Conferencing
− Desktop Sharing
− PC audio and video calls using Microsoft Lync

We support over 100 applications used within Skanska UK. These can be third
party systems or developed in-house by ITSD. Some of the core applications are:

IT Business Partners

− The IT Business Partners team provides a strategic link between the OU’s and EF’s and ITSD
− Contact your IT Business Partner to:
− Investigating a new software solution
− Assistance in IT costs for a tender
− New site requirements
− Improve how your team is working with IT tools
− If your project or operating unit is experiencing an ongoing IT issue

IT Projects

− The IT department look after a number of projects generated by


Operational Units (OUs) and at times require planning and
coordinating.
− Examples of requests are:
− Development of new IT applications
− Installation of IT infrastructure for new site offices
− Relocation of offices and sites.
− Upgrade programmes of IT applications
− This type of work often involves project management and capital
investment and cannot be logged using the IT support request
procedure.
− Submit a project request via your IT Business Partner (ITBP)

IT Policies and Procedures
− Everyone who has access to the Skanska Network, whether employed directly
or not, is subject to a number of important policy documents that give guidance
on the acceptable use of IT and Communications systems.
− More information on the above can be found in Skanska UK’s ‘Policies &
Procedures’ section on the intranet, see Section 15 for Information Technology
and Security Policies.

− Update your password


− Please remember to update the password on your
iPhone to continue receiving email messages when
you change your network password.

− Skanshare – File transfer portal


− Did you know you can use Skanshare file sharing
portal to send large files to clients and colleagues, go
to: http://shanshare.skanska.co.uk

− Office Wi-Fi
− Most Skanska sites now have Wi-Fi connectivity,
check out the working wireless page on
OneSkanska for the latest password details
