At the end of everyday, we wipe off the blackboard with wet

sponge to make it clean and ready to use for the next day. After a
few minutes, the water disappeared. Where do you think the
water goes? Why?
Evaporation is the process of which water changes
from a liquid to gas or vapor.
 This technique is used to separate soluble solids from the solution.
 When a salt solution is heated , water evaporates and salt remain in the
container. The remaining residue is the solute .
 This is also happen in when patis is heated or left in an open container in a
warm room. Grains of salt remain in the container as the liquids
evaporates.
 Remember that in evaporation only the solute is recovered, not the
solvent.
In the environment many components of mixtures are separated by
evaporation process. When the sun heats up the earth , water separates
from other substances on earth and it becomes water vapor.
Salt making use evaporation to separate salt from sea water. Sea salt is formed
from the natural evaporation of ocean water, generally in man made pools near in
protected shoreline.
BENEFITS OF SEPARATING MIXTURES THROUGH EVAPORATION
Activity 7.6 Day 4
Lesson Concept: Evaporation is a form of separating mixtures that is important in the community.
Duration: 10 minutes
Materials: Manila paper, Marking Pen
Procedures: 1. Discuss within the group the activities in the community which involve separating
mixtures through evaporation.
2. Share ideas on how each activity regarding evaporation becomes beneficial to the community.
3. In the diagram, write the activities involving evaporation while the benefits at the center.
