and hence it falls under Food Industry as the firm is involved in paddy

Market Potential for 2018 - 19
– India's GDP is expected to grow at 7.4 per cent in 2018-19. India's food grain
production reached 275.11 million tonnes in 2016-17 and the production
reached 277 million tonnes in 2017-18.
– The Ministry of Agriculture, Government of India assuming that the blessings
of Rain gods are good this time has forecasted that the production will reach
around 280 million tonnes in 2018 – 19 (i.e about 1% growth).
Sales forecast for 2018 - 19

– SLV Group follows Trend Projection to project the demand for its domestic
sales.
– It had forecasted that its domestic sales will be around 1000 tonnes and as on
01/03/2018 it has achieved 925 tonnes of sales.
– The Group forecasts that in the year 2018 – 19 it will have domestic sales of
1300 tonnes based on the trend projection.
Trend Projection?

– The trend projection method is based on the assumption that the factors
liable for the past trends in the variables to be projected shall continue to play
their role in the future in the same manner and to the same extent as they did
in the past while determining the variable’s magnitude and direction.
– In predicting demand for a product, the trend projection method is applied to
the long time-series data. A long-standing firm can obtain such data from its
departments (such as sales) and the books of accounts. While the new firms
can obtain data from the old firms operating in the same industry.
Why Trend Projection?

– The Group has complete data for the past 18 years.


– The members of management are in the opinion that trend projection has
been predicting their sales with 1% error.
– The members of management feels that with their ERP software forecasting
sales using trend is more feasible and understandable for them.

We don’t recommend any new method


– Since the projections were correct in many cases.
– The Management can understand this easily which will enable them to take
up decisions based on the report.
Sales forecast for 2018 - 19

– The major chunk of revenue of SLV Group is earned through its export
business.
– The Group has entered into MoU’s with various agro companies in UAE and
the group exports the stipulated quantity as per MoU’s on a monthly basis.
– The Group insider said that the company has bookings till 2025 through the
various MoU’s.
