3rd The basic properties of cells

1st History of Cell Discovery

Cells are the smallest functional and structural unit of living

things. The amazing thing is that cells are composed of parts that
are not alive. Together in one unit, parts of cells form whole cells
that live and have life characteristics, such as multiplying by
dividing, responding to stimuli, and doing metabolism.
1st History of Cell Discovery

The term cell was first put forward by Robert Hooke (England,
1635-1703), namely a physicist and mathematician, as well as a
secretary of the Royal Society of London. Using a simple
microscope his findings, Robert Hooke managed to observe the
cork incision of the bottle cap. In his observations, the cork
incisions appeared to be a small room separated by a thick wall
resembling a honeycomb. These small rooms are called cells.
2nd Cell Theories
1. Cell theory According to Schleiden (1804-1881) and T.
Schwann (1810-1882).
Schleiden argues that every plant body is composed of cells. while
Schwann believes every animal's body is composed of cells. Based
on the opinions of the two experts it can be concluded that the
cell is a structural unit (constituent) of the body of the organism.
Organisms whose bodies are composed of one cell are called
unicellular organisms. like amoeba, Paramecium and
Chlamydomonas.
2nd Cell Theories

2. Cell theory According to Max Schultze (1825-1914)

Maz Schultze argues that protoplasm is the basic structure
of living things and is an important part of cells. This is where the
whole process of life takes place. Furthermore, this cell theory
only states that the cell is not just a compiler, but a cell is also a
functional unit of life.
2nd Cell Theories

3. Cell theory According to Rudolf Virchow (1858)

Rudolf Virchow argues that every cell comes from the
previous cell (omnis cellulae cellula). The process of growth in
celled organisms Many occur because of the increase in the
number of cells and enlargement of cells that make up the body
of the organism. As a result, the development of new cell theory
states that cells are units of growth.
2nd Cell Theories

4. Theory of cells due to the discovery of sophisticated aids

At the end of the 19th century with the discovery of a
variety of sophisticated aids, like electron microscopy,
microtomes, various ways of fuxing and the way of coloring
various parts of cells, it can be seen that in the protoplasm found
various organelles, such as chromosomes. Chromosomes are
those in the cell nucleus. Inside the chromosome is found the
factor carrying the properties called Gen. then a new theory
emerges stating that cells are units of heredity.
3rd The basic properties of cells

Cells have basic properties, including:

• Life.
• Cells are very complex and organized.
• Cells have a consistent and consistent shape of organelle
layout.
• Cells have genetic programs.
• Organisms are formed based on information encoded by
genes.
• Cells have the ability to multiple.
• Cells result from division.
3rd The basic properties of cells

 Cells require and use energy.

 Cells perform various chemical reactions.
 The whole chemical reaction that occurs in the cell
represents the cell's metabolism.
 Cells perform various mechanical activities
 The material was transported from one place to another,
the structure was built and quickly dismantled.
 Cells are able to respond to stimulants
 Most cells have receptors that can interact with the
substance of the environment in a very specific way.
 Cells are able to regulate themselves
