1. Decide the genre/angle/aspect of the theme which you


are going to compose an essay from.

2. You may only choose to write


 Cause and Effect essay
 Problem and solution essay.

Example:
Theme: Petroleum
Possible topic(s):
- Effects of petroleum on economy.
- Effects of petroleum on society.
- Solution to the petrol crisis.
2. Decide your angle, discuss with your lecturer and
seek approval.

3. Seek external references for your essay


(magazine articles, newspaper articles, journals
and credible websites) as sources for your essay.

4. Collect a MINIMUM OF 5 sources for your


essay and these sources MUST be quoted in your
essay. (APA format)

5. Plan and compose an essay from 500 - 750


words.

4. NO two groups in one lecture may choose a similar theme.

5. Based on the theme chosen, each group is required to


compose an essay (refer to task 2)

6. Synthesize the entire essays written on a common theme as


a presentation.
7. For the presentation, you MUST:
 Use information from essays written by your group.
 Prepare PowerPoint slides as a group.
 Ensure coherence in presenting information during
the presentation.
 Ensure all group members participate in the
presentation.
 Provide supplementary pieces of evidence for your
claims (external references) – you may scan, screen
capture, crop your sources to be presented in slides.
 Ensure professionalism in presentation.
 Be well-versed in topic presented (for Q&A sessions)
