Adolescent sexual abuse is any act directed at an

sexual gratification.
Adolescent pregnancy continues to be an important
social issue.
The United Nations Population Fund (UNFPA) states
that:
Child bearing and unsafe abortions occur among
girls & women aged 15-24 years.
 Sexual exploitation by encouraging prostitution, obscene
filming are also threatening to our society.
 Boys are equally at risk as girls.
 Two categories of sexual abuses are:- non-touching abuses &
touching abuses.
 Most children quietly suffer, and don’t talk about sexual
abuse.
 Reports says that abusers are mainly known to victim as their
relatives or as an acquaintance.
CONSEQUENCES OF SEXUAL
ABUSE
Post-traumatic stress disorder
Anxiety, depression, externalizing symptoms and
sleep disorders.
Having thoughts of suicide and self-harm.
Unsafe sex, abuse of drugs and misuse of alcohol
Higher risk of STIs and HIV
For girls, increased risk of pregnancy and
gynaecological disorders.
 This leads to physical and behavioral aftereffects on
children.

 Children often cannot tell about a touching problem.

 The reasons are loss of love, shame and guilt, blame,

remembering ,harm.

 But we need to TALK about it, so that WE can

PREVENT IT and CURE IT.
SUGGESTIONS TO TACKLE IT
CONCLUSION
Best way to secure oneself from sexual abuses are through
promotion of self defensive methods.
Proper knowledge should be imparted on this subject.
Better family atmosphere should be build up to have a
‘feel safe’ forum for children.
Develop courageous attitude in children with proper
knowledge on possibilities of feasible law system.
Provide healthy life to our youngsters by the combined
support of our parents, teachers and elders.
 Establishment of fruitful open forums in educational
arena.
 Sex education should be promoted by the law system.
 Socially unified activation against such atrocities must be
strengthen.
 A friendly atmosphere must be developed within the
family for better understanding of the children.
 Moreover there must be justice for all from the part of
law.
 No longer silence been promoted on such social issues.
