Why OLabs?
● Infrastructure required for conducting experiments not available in all
schools

● In many schools, there is no/minimal lab session.

● Students are unable to repeat experiments as many times as needed

● Limited lab access due to safety constraints and fragile equipments.

● Assessment of experiments has not been as serious as that of the theory

considering difficult logistics in evaluation

● Unavailability of teachers with good practical expertise in rural as well as

some urban schools

● Limitations of physical labs

● Demonstrating Lifecycle of Mosquito, behaviour of simple pendulum in
atmosphere of Jupiter, sensing magnetic field intensity, etc.

OLabs is partial attempt to solve these problems and enhance the practical
component in schools

 Contents of a Lab
Complete lab e-content under one roof.
Each experiment as sections covering following:
• Theory – conceptual background of the experiment, concepts, related laws, proofs,
principles, etc.
• Procedure - detailed steps for conducting the experiment in the online & actual lab
environment.
• Animation - for teacher’s demonstration of the experiment in the class or in the
laboratory.
• Simulation - a simulated laboratory environment with necessary apparatus to
conduct the experiment online.
• Viva Voce – Questions on related lab for self-assessment

an offline version Olabs is also available now:
o OLabs Live DVD - OLabs Live DVD is an offline
bootable DVD that consists of all labs present
on OLabs website.
o Olabs Window Installer
• User friendly installation process.
• Beta Version 2.0 and 2.1 are released

• Windows Installer is now being distributed to schools in training
workshops.
