INTRODUCTION
• 5TH mode of transportation.
• Firstly proposed by Elon Musk and a joint team from TESLA and
SpaceX in August 2013.
• Basically hyperloop is a magnetically levitated train inside a tube with
low pressure.
• It is an alternative to high speed train.

BASIC PRINCIPLE
• Based on a principle of magnetic
levitation.
• An object suspended in air using only
only magnetic fields and no other
support.
• Hyperloop consists of capsules
travelling at a very high and low
speed in a tube with very low pressure.

CONSTRUCTON
1.TUBES
• Made of steel.
• Two tubes are welded side by
side to allow capsules travel
in both directions.
• They are supported by pillars
at every 30m.
Journal 2, Hyperloop, Train of Future
2.CAPSULE
• Carries 28 passengers at a time.
• It is send at high speed and levitated
by a high pressure cushion.
• Two versions:
1.Passenger only version
2.Passenger plus vehicle version
SPECIFICATIONS:
• Height : 1.1m
• Width : 1.35m
• Passengers : 24 to 30 no.
• Speed : 760mph

3.COMPRESSOR FAN
• Installed on front of capsules.
• Introduced to nullify effect of Kantrowitz
limit.
• Fan sucks accumulated compressed air from
front of train and exhales it to air bearings.
• Air bearings provide hovering and levitation.
Journal 2, Hyperloop, Train of Future
4.PROPULSIONS
• Propelling machine used is linear
induction motors.
• Used to accelerate and decelerate
the capsule.
• Rotors are mounted to the capsules
to accelerate capsule.
• Stators are placed on tube and it
powers vehicle. Joural 1, Hyperloop Transportation System
5.POWER SOURCE
• Roof of tube is covered with solar panels.
• Energy is also stored in the form of compressed air.
• Eco-friendly environment.
WORKING
• Based on principle of magnetic levitation, the pod is made to float in
air.
• Thrust from linear motors propels the pods forward at a subsonic
velocity.
• Air compressor fans sucks air from front side and transfers to rear
side of pod.
• Pod is self-powered(solar panels provide enough energy and is also
stored in the form of compressed air).
MERITS
• Saves travelling time.
• High speed.
• No problem of traffic.
• Eco-friendly.
• Can travel in any weather.
• Low cost than high speed trains.
• More convenient.
• Resistant to earthquake.

DEMERITS
• Turnings will be critical.
• Less movable space for passengers.
• High speed causes dizziness in some passengers.
• Punctured tunnel could cause shockwaves.
CONCLUSION
• Hyperloop is the technology for future.
• It is in its rudimentary stage, so it have to be improved.
• Increase passenger capacity.
• Improve safety features.
• Detailed station designs with loading and unloading of
passengers.
