INTRODUCTION
to build a human who is critical
EDUCATION and has the ability to solve
problems of human life that are
increasingly complex (problem
solver)

are expected to realize

MATHEMATICS competent humans as
problem solvers
Emphasizes the process of sending
EXPOSITORY material verbally. In this learning, the
LEARNING material is delivered directly by the
teacher.

There are still some students

who find it difficult to learn PROBLEM
mathematics, especially in
problem solving
Method of instruction that
CONTEXTUAL enables students to apply new
LEARNING knowledge and skills to real-
life situations

Edy Surya in his journal Improving Mathematical Problem-Solving Ability

and Self-Confidence of High School Students Through Contextual
Learning Models said that
“The ability to solve mathematical problems and the level of self-
confidence of students taught with contextual learning models is higher
than students taught with expository learning models”
Are activities carried out to
HANDS ON involve students in information
and questions, move and find,
ACTIVITY collect data and analyze and
make their own solutions

Fredi Ganda Putra in his journal Experimentation of a

Contextual Approach Assisted by Hands On Activity (HoA)
Against the Ability to Solve Mathematical Problems said that
“The contextual approach assisted by Hands On Activity makes
students more active and motivated to learn because students
can improve their abilities in the learning process, so that
students can find their own solutions”
Contextual learning assisted by Hand
on Activity can be applied by teacher in
mathematics learning so that the level of
self-confidence and student’s problem-
solving ability can increase.
