doing any strenuous activity?
2.What is the significance of a cool
down?
3.What do you think will happen if
we do not do cool down?
Lets test your Creative Thinking!
• GROUP THE CLASS INTO 3:
• This game is called the WIKARAMBULAN GAME:
MECHANICS:
• I’M GOING TO FLASH A DYSCRYPTING WORDS FROM THE WORD
OF ITS SAME SOUND WHICH IS RELATED TO OUR TOPIC.
• ONE PAIR WILL GO TO THE BOARD TO ANSWER, ONE WILL READ
THE WIKARAMBULAN WORD AND THE OTHER WILL BE THE ONE
TO WRITE IN THE BOARD WORD THAT IS BEING DESCRIBE.

the words in your activity, what do think
would be our lesson for today?
2. Who among you have experienced being
injured?
3. What type of injury did you incur?
4. What did you/first aider do to manage
your injury?
5. Can you name at least 4 dance related
injuries.

treatment for
dance-related
injuries
LESSON
OBJECTIVES

Identify people
to contact in
case of injury
• Let’s group the class into 2 at least 15 members each
group
• You will be given same activity, a box with 1-10
numbers with a question/definition each number,
alpha calendar and an activity station.
• 2 members of the group will go to your activity
station to answer a specific no. that you have picked.
• If the group members cannot figure out the answer
they can make use of the ALPHA-CALENDAR for you
to decode the correct answer.
• Each pair will only be given 1 minute to answer a
certain question.

1.What are the 4 identified
common dance related injuries?
2.What do you think are factors
that may cause dance injuries?
3.In your own understanding, how
can we prevent such dance
related injuries?
1. What is the sequence in managing Sprain and
Strain?
2. When a person is fractured or suffered
dislocation what is the most important thing to
do after the first aid management?
3. When a student incurred injury in the school
campus and you do not know how to manage
it, who is/are the best person in the school to
call for a help?
4. Do we have school resources in managing
dance related injuries? What and where?
• Let’s Group the class into two
• Students who learn best visually will stay on the
left side
• Students who learn best with word definition will
stay on the right side.
• Each group will be given same activity to fix.
• Using the materials in your envelope you will
make a graphic organizer that contains the
different dance related injuries, its signs and
symptoms and the first aid management.

LET’S CHECK
WHAT YOU’VE
LEARNED!!!
1. What do you call the injury to the
ligament?
SPRAIN
2. What specific part of the body is injured
when a person incurred strain?
MUSCLE
OR
TENDON
3. What do you think is the rationale why “Rest the injure
area” is the first management in sprain and strain?

• TO PREVENT FURTHER
INJURY AND TO
FACILITATE FASTER
HEALING.
4. What is the correct sequence in managing sprain and
strain?
5. What is the difference of a fracture and
dislocation?

A FRACTURE IS WHEN THERE IS

A BREAK/CRACK IN THE BONE
WHILE DISLOCATION IS WHEN
TWO JOINTS IS DISPLACED TO
ITS PROPER POSITION.
6. There are instances that sensation may be lost below the
fractured or dislocated area, what could be the possible
indication?

•IT INDICATES POSSIBLE

NERVE OR BLOOD
VESSEL INJURY.
QUIZ: MULTIPLE CHOICE: Read and
carefully analyze the questions. Choose the
letter of the correct answer and write your
answer on the blank provide before the
number CAPITAL LETTERS ONLY!. STRICTLY
NO ERASURES!!, ERASURES MEANS
WRONG.
1. Tina has a sprained ankle. Which of the following is
an indication of sprain?
a. There is a torn ligament c. A tendon is broken
b. There is a muscle tear d. A joint is displaced
2. Which of the following is a possible symptom of both
sprains and strains?
a. Pain
b. Difficulty moving the injured area
c. Swelling
d. All of the above
3. Bobby injured his lower back during a break dancing
competition. His x-ray shows that he has torn muscle. What
injury indicates a torn muscle cause by overstretching?
a. Sprain c. Fracture
b. Strain d. Dislocation
4. Treatment for sprain or strain often includes R.I.C.E. which
stands for which of the following?
a. Rest, intervention, cast, elevation
b. Raise, immobilize, compression, exercise
c. Raise, intervention, crutches, examine
d. Rest, ice, compression, elevation
5. You should treat a sprain or strain by applying warm
compress right away.
a. True c. False
b. Either True or False d. Neither True nor False
6. Which of the following is a true statement regarding
fracture?
a. An x-ray shows there is displacement of the joint.
b. An x-ray shows there is tear in the muscle.
c. An x-ray shows there is a crack in the bone.
d. An x-ray shows there is a torn ligament.
7. ALL of the following are true about dislocation
EXCEPT:
a. Two bones are out of place at the joint that
connects them
b. A sharp edge of the bone pierces the skin
c. Deformity and loss of mobility are some signs
and symptoms
d. None of the above
8. While practicing for cheer dancing, a teammate fell and
injured his leg. While you are applying the RICE procedure
another teammate ask you the importance of RICE. Which
of the following is your wrong understanding about RICE?
a. Rest – helps prevent further injury and help injuries heal
faster
b. Ice – helps reduce swelling and pain
c. Compression – apply pressure to prevent additional
swelling and to squeeze debris out of the wound
d. Elevation – elevate the feet so that blood flows more freely
towards the heart and brain
9. You are a school nurse who is treating an injured student. One
student ask you the difference between fracture and dislocation.
Which statement shows your correct understanding about the two?
a. Fracture is when two joints are separated while dislocation is when
a ligament is broken.
b. Fracture is when the tendons are overstretched while dislocation is
when a muscle is torn.
c. Dislocation is when a bone is crashed while fracture is when two
connecting bone is separated.
d. Dislocation is when two connecting bones are displaced from its
usual or proper position while fracture is when a bone is broken into
two or more fragments.
10. ALL of the following are preventions of dance injury
EXCEPT
a. Wear fitted shoes appropriate to your style of dance
b. Do warm up and stretching before you start dancing
c. Keep dehydrated during dance activity.
d. Avoid overtraining, it could lead to a wide range of
overuse injuries.
