Sir Isaac Newton

Sir Issac Newton (1643-

1726) was an English
mathematician, physicist
and scientist. He is widely
regarded as one of the most
influential scientists of
all time, developing new
laws of mechanics, gravity
and laws of motion. His
work Principia
Mathematica(1687) laid the
framework for the
Scientific Revolution of
Newton’s First Law of Motion:

“Law of Inertia”
Every object in a state of uniform motion tends to
remain in that state of motion unless an external force
is applied to it. In an inertial frame of reference, an
object either remains at rest or continues to move at a
constant velocity, unless acted upon by a force.
Newton’s Second Law of Motion

“Law of
Acceleration”
Newton's second law of motion pertains to the behavior of objects for which
all existing forces are not balanced. The second law states that the
acceleration of an object is dependent upon two variables - the net
force acting upon the object and the mass of the object. The acceleration of
an object depends directly upon the net force acting upon the object, and
inversely upon the mass of the object.

Newton’s second law is one of the most important in all of physics. For a
body whose mass m is constant, it can be written in the form F = ma,
where F (force) and a (acceleration) are both vector quantities. If a body has
a net force acting on it, it is accelerated in accordance with the equation.
Newton’s Third Law of Motion
For every action there is an equal and opposite reaction.

The statement means that in every interaction, there is a pair of

forces acting on the two interacting objects. The size of the
forces on the first object equals the size of the force on the
second object. The direction of the force on the first object
is opposite to the direction of the force on the second object.
Forces always come in pairs - equal and opposite action-reaction
force pairs.
