“Law of Inertia”
Every object in a state of uniform motion tends to
remain in that state of motion unless an external force
is applied to it. In an inertial frame of reference, an
object either remains at rest or continues to move at a
constant velocity, unless acted upon by a force.
Newton’s Second Law of Motion
“Law of
Acceleration”
Newton's second law of motion pertains to the behavior of objects for which
all existing forces are not balanced. The second law states that the
acceleration of an object is dependent upon two variables - the net
force acting upon the object and the mass of the object. The acceleration of
an object depends directly upon the net force acting upon the object, and
inversely upon the mass of the object.
Newton’s second law is one of the most important in all of physics. For a
body whose mass m is constant, it can be written in the form F = ma,
where F (force) and a (acceleration) are both vector quantities. If a body has
a net force acting on it, it is accelerated in accordance with the equation.
Newton’s Third Law of Motion
For every action there is an equal and opposite reaction.
• The first law states that every object in a state of uniform motion tends to
remain in that state of motion unless an external force is applied to it.
• The second law states that the acceleration of an object is dependent upon two
variables - the net force acting upon the object and the mass of the object. It
can be written in the form F = ma, where F (force) and a (acceleration) are
both vector quantities.
• The third law states that for every action there is an equal and opposite
reaction.
