INTRODUCTION
The japanese word “kaizen” means simply
“improvement” with no inherent meaning of
either “continous” or “japanese
philosophy”;the word refers to an
improvement,one time or continous,large or
small,in the same sense as the English
word “improvement”.
DEFINITION
• The kaizen philosophy id drawn from the
japanese word “kai” which means
“continous” and “zen” means
“improvement” or “wisdom”.
• Kaizen events are when work groups set
aside a few day or up to a week to simplify
a process or work area-eliminating
waste,creating space.

• What is value stream?
A value stream includes all of the process
steps(both value added and non-value
added) that are required to complete a
product,service or task.

VSM is a method that visually shows the
material and information flows that help
complete the task.

What Is 5S?
• 5s is:
• A process to ensure a
clean,orderly,safe and productive
work place.
• Foundation for flow and standard
work.
What Are The 5S’s?
• Simpify(seiri) Clearly distinguish between what is
necessary and what is unnecessary
and disposing of the unnecessary.\
• Straighten(seiton) Organising the necessary items so that
they can be used and returned easily
• Scrub(seiso) Cleaning floors,equipments and furniture in
all area of the work place.
• Stabilize(seiketsu) Maintaining and improving the standards of
the first three S’s.
• Sustain(shitsuke) Achieving the discipline or habit of properly
maintaining the correct 5S procedure.
