Programming / coding / initialization
Programming ： Replace a new ECU,Eprom not data ,

need to programmed to enable the computer work
properly; Normally can’t do re-program.
Coding ： After replace the new ECU, Coding of
Eprom, activation of car components and others ECU
matching . Normally can do coding several times after
install a new computer;
Initialization: Initialization component recover the ECU
Principle:
Programming will be consider if cannot solve with coding;
and usually need to coding after programming;
Initialization according the demand after conduct
programming and coding.
Precautions of programming & coding
• Before programming, turn off the engine and turn on the ignition
switch; after programming is completed, turn off the ignition
switch for 30sec, then turn it on.
• Make sure the car voltage is above12.6V ， add on the power
supply when it is necessary.
• Make sure the power supply of device is normal, connection
between device and connectors are stable, do not plug off the
data cable during programming.
• Turn off all the electric consumption devices such as air-con, light
and wiper.
• Alert and follow all the prompt notification. When initiate the
programming, make sure no people inside the car and do not
turn on any car equipment.
Situation of Mercedes-Benz BMW that need to programming
and coding:
First 、 Change new ECU （ Coding ,need to be programmed if
there are no any coding data)
Second 、 Upgrade ECU ， some ECU may consist BUG that lead
the vehicles have error which difficult to fix by repair （ such as
BMW 2889 DME total body ， fuel consumption and emissions and
machine oil lamp of certain F series cannot back to zero ）
Third 、 Perform programming to restore ECU normal function
when it is abnormal system due to the error of ECU
software(Hardware normal)
Forth 、 Replace use ECU just need to do coding (certain ECU
system are not functioning)

What to do if the programming is “mismatched”?
Normally, if ECU programming “mismatched”, the

device (consist original device) was unable to read
code, clear code but the hardware is normal. This
condition can be solve by menu programming. Must
feedback the diagnostic log and provide the serial
number to Launch when programming is
‘mismatched’. Launch will send the testing version
to customer to continue their programming process
after interpret the issue, if still cannot run the
programming, please remove the battery for 10mins
and re-do the programming.
Precautions of BMW during car system programming
Firstly 、 Please plug off the electrical fan cable before perform
the programming process to ensure the voltage is enough
because when perform the engine programming, the electrical fan
may consume a lot of electric because it rotate speedy.
Secondly 、 Authorized driving need to be conduct if the are any
unusual conditions after programming and coding process in the
engine and Gearbox(like unable start the engine)
Firstly 、 Use F chasis programming and wifi cable when
perform BMW F series programming. If just do coding,
programming cable can be excluded （ do not use E chasis ）
Second 、 In programming process, must record the below
data because it is useful when the program is "mismatched”
Third 、 In programming, will have issue that may cause the
system down, we need to feedback the car information and
diagnostic log to Launch. Launch will find out the problem
based on diagnostic log and send the testing version to
customer to continue the programming, mostly all the issue can
be solve 。
Forth 、 In programming, the below menu must be selected.

Fifth 、 In programming, must select the document with mark
(*)
Sixth 、 In programming, if all documents without (*), state that the
car no need perform programming, just perform coding.
Seventh 、 In coding , if ECU unable search the
corresponding code, system will ask to choose manually. First
choice should be (*). If there are a lot of data with(*), please
select all.
Eight 、 In coding ， if ECU unable search the corresponding
code, system will ask to choose manually. First choice should be
(*) 。 If no (*) ， can choose the newest level. Here, we select
： F020-14-07-505
Precautions of BMW during car system
programming
Ninth 、 After finished programming and coding ， need go

through the system error code and fix it with specific function
such as initiate the power window for FRM programming. If no
system error code and the meter light is normal means
programming is completed.; If no system error code but the
meter light is abnormal, can drive the car for a distance to turn
the meter light to normal.
Used ECU programming
 Perform programming in used ECU in Mercedes-Benz that
involved with anti-data, such as engine(221) 、 gearbox
computer 、 ISM shifting computer and ELV security computer,
must clear the data first.
 Generally, need to write VIN before perform programming for
ABS/ESP used module in Mercedes-Benz
 Unlock the used airbag computer in Mercedes-Benz before write
VIN ， and perform programming(such as 204 ）
 Engine, gearbox , CAS and other component s in BMW which
involving anti-data ,so far only can be settle by transfer data
since cannot perform programming
 Majority only perform coding for used ECU that do not involved
any anti-data

BMW X6(E71) Footwell Module FRM online programming
BMW X6(E71) programming process:
Connect PADIII and Bluetooth connector with USB
cable （ connect F chassis with programming and connecting
cable ） then connect to OBD diagnostic, turn on ignition switch
(don't start the engine)
Select “online programming”
Select vehicles model and chassis number
Select “programming/coding” ,make sure the chassis number is
correct
Select “programming”
Select whether the module containing the vehicle configuration
data has been replaced （ such as CAS and FRM ）
Select programming system （ such as FRM ）
Download programming data from Launch server
Start programming
Perform coding when programming is completed
When programming and coding are completed, fully scan the
system. Initiate and corresponding to the operation of special
functions according to the failure code
Damage characteristic of BMW Foot Well module:
Foot space module easily to get damage when the voltage are abnormal
(such as change battery)
General characteristic of damage:
•All car lighting are abnormal (ex: head light tail light ） Not
functioning of light switch （ uncontrollable of light ）
•Windows unable to lifting up and down
