FLASHBACK

FRIDAY
What are the three
methods of
Transferring
Designs? Explain
each.
Let’s WATCH
and
UNDERSTAND
What have you
watched on the
video?
How can you
describe the garbage
disposal in the
Philippines?
What will happen if
people will continue
to dispose waste
improperly?
What is/are the best
solution/s to this one
of the biggest
problems we Filipino
face?
As a student, what
simple act can you
contribute to save
our country with this
kind of issue?
LESSON 5:
RECYCLING
What is
recycling?
It is the process of
transforming an item
which has already
served its original
purpose,
But is still durable
into something that
can still be used for
another purpose.
It is the recovery and
reprocessing of waste
materials for use in
new products.
“There is cash
in trash”
Types of
Recycling
1. Internal
Recycling
It involves the use of
materials that are
waste products of
manufacturing
process.
Distilling
Industry
Barley (Hordeum
vulgare) – a member of
grass family, is a major
cereal grain grown in
temperate climates
globally.
It has been used as animal
feeds, as a source of
fermentable material for
beer and whiskey, and as a
component of various health
foods like MILO energy drink
2. External
Recycling
It is the reclaiming of
materials from a
product that has been
worn out due to
constant use.
Advantages
of
Recycling
1. Decrease pollution and
ease the garbage
pollution
According to
Science, what is
pollution?
It is the introduction of contaminants
into the natural environment that
cause adverse change.
Pollutants- the components of
pollution can be either foreign
substances/ energies or naturally
occurring contaminants.
Major forms are air, light, noise,
plastic, water, thermal pollution, etc.
According to research, the following is the
estimated time for some everyday items
that are all around us to decompose in
landfill sites:
Plastic bottles: 70-450 years
Plastic bag: 500- 1000 years
Sanitary napkins and children diapers: 500-
800 years
Tin cans: 50 years
Glass bottles: 1-2 million years
2. Conserve resources
Give examples of
natural resources
according to what
you studied in
Science/AP.
3. Enhance creativity
and resourcefulness
4. Potential in
making profitable
business
You collected 200 pieces of empty
packs of juice drink and you will use
them for making bags. Each bag needs
20 pieces of empty packs. You spend
Php 25 for other materials you use for
each bag and you sell it for Php 120.
How many bags can you produce? How
much is your profit?
5. It makes people
environmentally aware

Materials Used in
Recycling
Where Am I
belong?
Let’s do the
challenge together.
List down the articles
that can be possibly
made out of the
recyclable materials
you have chosen.

Let’s see if you
learned!
???
What is
recycling?
What are the
two types of
recycling?
What are the 5
advantages of
recycling?
What are the common
materials used in
recycling? Give at least
one article or recycled
product of it.
Quick Quiz
Direction: Enumerate the
following.
1-2) Types of recycling
3-4) Give at least 2 advantages
of recycling
5-6) Give at least 2 common
materials used in recycling

and
RFL (Reflect mo

What is the
important thing
you learned
today?
Let’s extend our
learning!
Look around your home. Take
note of the things that are
normally thrown away or
disposed of after they have been
used for their original purpose.
Think of the articles into which
an item can be converted or
recycled.
Example:
ITEM ORIGINAL RECYCLING
PURPOSE POSSIBILITY
Plastic Powder Container powder Saving Bank
Canister
THANK YOU
