Harmonisa merupakan suatu fenomena yang timbul
akibat pengoprasian beban listrik nonlinier, yang
merupakan sumber terbentuknya gelombang frekuensi
tinggi (kelipatan dari frekuensi fundamental, misal
100Hz, 150Hz, 200Hz, 300Hz, dan seterusnya). Hal ini
dapat mengganggu sistem kelistrikan pada frekuensi
fundamentalnya, yaitu 50/60Hz, sehingga bentuk
gelombang arus maupun tegangan yang idealnya adalah
sinusoidal murni akan menjadi cacat akibat distorsi
harmonisa yang terjadi
