Sitanggang3 1,2,3 STIKes St. Elisabeth Medan Background Elderly is a condition where people will lose the ability of tissues to improve themselves and lose their immune power against infections that result in decreased function of muscle tissue tsuch as the heart. The highest cause of cardiovascular disease is high cholesterol levels in the blood. One solution to deal with cholesterol problems in the elderly is by doing Exercise. Poco-Poco is an aerobic exercise where the continuity of movement involves muscle groups that contract and can lower blood fat levels, so the danger of deposition of fat in blood vessel walls can be reduced. PURPOSE This study aims was to identify the effect of Poco- Poco Exercise on cholesterol levels in the elderly Methods This research used pre-experimental method with one group pretest and post test design to 15 elderly people at Cipta Pesona Clinic Medan according to the inclusion criteria, namely elderly aged> 60 years, cholesterol levels> 200 mg/ dl, no musculoskeletal disorders and other chronic diseases, not receiving cholesterol therapy. Instruments were adopted from the 2016 Nusantara community, a new glucometer set with the Easy Touch brand Researchers collected data ffter obtaining ethical clearance from the Santa Elisabeth Medan Ethics Committee, and permission from the Cipta Pesona Clinic Medan The respondents who agreed sign the informed consent sheet and were willing to follow the Poco- Poco gymnastic intervention for one month. Respondents were encouraged to fast for 9 hours before measuring cholesterol levels. After that, the respondents followed exercise: Poco-Poco with researchers and staff including 35 minutes of warming up, core and cooling down. This exercise was carried out 2 times a week during March 2018. On the last day before training, respondents were again advised to fast before measurement of blood cholesterol levels post intervention. Findings Respondents consisted of 15 elderly with demographic characteristics: 66.7% male, 33.3% female and all Christian.

education (80%). Findings Blood cholesterol levels before intervention were: 60% Borderline (200-240 mg/dl) and 40% high (> 240 mg/dl) Blood cholesterol levels after intervention were: 53,3% normally (<200 mg/dl) and 46,7% Borderline (200-240 mg/dl) Data analysis used was Wilcoxon test, got the average cholesterol level of Pre exercise was 237.93 mg/dl and post exercise was 213.20mg/dl with p value 0,001 (p <0,05) It means that giving Exercise: Poco-Poco affects decreased cholesterol levels in the elderly Conclusion This research indicates that there is significant effect of Poco-Poco Exercise on cholesterol levels in elderly. It was hoped that Cipta Pesona Clinic can apply the poco-poco exercise at least two times a week in elderly as one of alternative way in lowering cholesterol.
