WHAT IS ADRENAL
 GLAND ?
The adrenal glands are also
known as suprarenal
glands. They are endocrine
glands that produce a
variety of hormones
including adrenaline and
the
steroids aldosterone and co
rtisol. They are found above
the kidneys. Each gland has
an outer cortex which
produces steroid
hormones and an
inner medulla.
STRUCTURE
 PLACEMENT:- The Adrenal Gland is on both sides of the body just
above the
Kidneys.

 SHAPE:- The Right gland is Pyramidal in shape whereas , the Left one
is Semilunar and larger than the Right Gland.

 SIZE AND WEIGHT:- The glands are 5x3 cm in size and the combine
weight of both the glands is 7 to 10 grams.

 COLOR:- The glands are Yellowish in Color.


FUNCTIONS
 The main purpose of the Adrenal Gland is to enable
your body to deal with stress from every possible
source, ranging from injury and disease to work and
relationship problems

 It is also your adrenal glands’ job to keep your body’s


reactions to stress in balance so that they are
appropriate and not harmful. For example, the
protective activity of anti-inflammatory and anti-
oxidant adrenal hormones like cortisol helps to
minimize reactions like swelling and inflammation in
situations ranging from allergies to autoimmune
