 I chose this topic because people might know about what cancer is, but they do not

really know the stresses that cancer patients have to deal with.
 Dealing with cancer is not an easy thing to do since cancer patients have to go

through physical and psychological stresses while also dealing with the financial

burden of having cancer.


 Physical health impairment
 Cognitive impairment
 Fatigue
 Patients have problems of doing daily activity such as bathing, dressing, using the

toilet, eating, or walking.

 These dysfunctions affect on patients’ quality of life.

 People more than 65 years of age have more physical difficulties compared to

younger people.
 It includes word-finding, short and long term memory, or speaking abilities.

 Common symptoms: memory loss, lack of concentration, attention, difficulties with

learning, thinking, organizing

 Patients have cognitive impairment because of the treatments such as chemotherapy.

 This can be improved by pharmacological treatment, rich antioxidant nutrition, and

cognitive techniques.
 Fatigue consists of having physical and cognitive exhaustion.

 Fatigue occurs in cancer patients particularly as a side effect of chemotherapy and

radiotherapy.

 A persistent fatigue can have an extensive impact on cancer patients’ life such as

physical, cognitive, or financial aspect.


 Depression and Anxiety
 Depression and anxiety are the most common psychological stress that cancer

patients have to go through.

 Cancer patients can have depression and anxiety on the recurrence of the cancer

and the development of the second cancer.

 They cannot find joy in things that they do, and they do not feel motivated to do

things they used to do.


 No job, no income

 Additional fees: appointments with doctors, tests, treatments, and medication.
