What is micro-finance outfit?
This is referred to as a small credit
providing unit that act as a catalyst for
development of rural areas by providing
small credit to the dwellers
In Nigeria for instance, most small business
owners source their capital via initiatives
like “Esusu” among yorubas and “Adashe”
among the Hausas
These scarce resources are accumulated
and allotted to one member at a time
The Nigeria government introduced the
microfinance banking scheme in 2005
as the problem of source of the capital
aroused

Itis in view of above, that this paper is

aimed at examining the relevance of
microfinance institutions to improve the
entrepreneurship among women in
Nigeria
Problem identification
Women play a vital role in family
sustainability & economic growth
It is also known that they participate
directly as vendors or local shop owners
However, raising up sufficicient capital
for startup of business has been a major
constraint
Objectives of seminar inquiring
The study seek to identify the
importance of microfinance banks’ loan
to women entrepreneurs
Also, to determine the effects of the
difficulties involved in accessing loans
from microfinance banks by the women
entrepreneurs
Significance of the Study
 Serve as a tool for intending entrepreneurs on how
to access loans
 Microfinance banks may use the study to review
some policies on accessing loans
 Also, it will be useful to researchers in this field
for further research
Literature Review
So many studied had been carried out
by different authors, which defined
microfinance banks both by functions
and responsibilities.
But it is imperative to ensure those
functions & responsibilities are actually
carried out, else, they remain abstract
theories on the paper
Methodology
The study adopted descriptive survey
One hundred and ten (110) women
entrepreneurs were randomly selected from
Gosa market, Abuja
Open-ended questionnaire were employed
Though, out of 110 questionnaire issued out,
85 returned as valid sample population
Simple percentage method was used to
analyse the data obtained as seen in the table
on printed copies.
Result of Findings
Based on the data analysed, microfinance
banks are yet to be fully functional & carry
out their responsibility by given out loans to
the entrepreneurs
Majority of the women entrepreneurs had no
access to loans
There was also no or little awareness of the
role of microfinance banks by the women
entrepreneurs in Gosa market
Conclusion & Recommendations
Empowering women entrepreneurs will
create jobs and reduce unemployment
It is therefore, necessary for women
entrepreneurs to have easy access to fund
to improve on their business
Banks should also create awareness to
women entrepreneurs on how to access
loan
The government should evolve a policy
that would make access to funds easier
for women entrepreneurs.
