PURPOSE
• LinkedIn is a social media networking site that connects professionals from all
ages and industries together.
• The goal for LinkedIn users is to be able to connect with like-minded
individuals who are either seeking, or who are in, the career field that one
desires.
• The purpose of LinkedIn is to help people ‘connect’ through the site to find
potential job leads and open positions in ones career field.

POPULAR FEATURES
• The ‘connect’ feature on LinkedIn is a popular tool. Connect is similar to a
follow on Twitter or and friend add on Facebook.
• LinkedIn also has a premium version of the app which allows users to see
who has visited their page recently, among other features.

INTENDED AUDIENCE
• The intended audience for LinkedIn is for all professionals who want to
expand their circle of connections.
• The app does not cater to a specific age or career demographic. It has a
broad demographic of different ages and career fields.

CHARACTERISTICS THAT FIT SOCIAL MEDIA
• LinkedIn has many characteristics that fit the platform of social media: posts
that reach a feed, connecting (adding) with different profiles, instant
messaging, liking and sharing of posts.
• LinkedIn is very interactive and is all about standing out in front of your
connections by posting and being involved on the application.

WHY DO WE CARE?
• We care about LinkedIn because it has a very specific niche inside of the
social media world.
• LinkedIn is not about the search for internet fame or internet jokes. LinkedIn’s
job is to help professionals find open jobs.
• We care about LinkedIn because it enhances people’s professional profile
by allowing them to meet people in their respective industries.

WHY WOULD WE ADOPT?
• We would adopt because it is not like any other social media platform out
there.
• One of the most important aspects of someone’s life is their work. Especially
for soon-to-be college graduates, LinkedIn is arguably the most important
social media tool that they can use to help them make connections and
secure a job post-graduation.

WOULD I USE LINKEDIN?
• I would, and currently do use LinkedIn.
• It is one of my favorite social media websites because it is very specific and I
know what to expect when I log on to the site.
• I am a person who takes my career and business life seriously and LinkedIn
has helped me with that aspect of my life.

• LinkedIn has over 575 million users (Kinsta, 2019)
• 40% of the 575 million users access LinkedIn Daily (Kinsta, 2019)
• 44% of linked in users takes home $75,000 a year (Kinsta, 2019)
