A REPORT ON A VISIT TO THE NAMIBIA ORGANIZATION OF

YOUTH WITH DISABILITIES: WINDHOEK, NAMIBIA

Aims and objectives of the visit

• To conduct a small-scale research of the


Namibia Organization of Youth with
Disabilities (NOYD)
• To establish collaboration with NOYD

• Interview
• Document analysis
Findings

• NOYD is a non profit organisation that was


established in September 2013
• The main aim of the organisation is to
advocate for equal opportunities for youth
with disabilities in education, training and
employment
• The organisation has representatives in each
region in Namibia
Findings: Challenges NOYD face
• Lack of funds to repair computers
• There is no transport for the organization
• There are no funds to pay trainers for the youth,
hence high staff attrition
• There is no telephone, computers or internet
access
• Lack of funds and capacity to revitalize the garden
• Poor communication among executive members

Recommendations
• The centre can rent
out facilities such as
this recreational
ground to the
community and
generate money
that can be used in
order to start with
gardening.
