River and the City: Influence of Changing Perceptions of Kaveri on Architecture
Objective:

To study the changing fabric of the city – river interface along River Kaveri across changing geographical
locations and understand the corresponding architectural transformations in response to the changing
influencing factors.

Students’ Learning Outcome

Through this exercise, the students will be able to appreciate the varying perceptions towards River Kaveri
across different geographical locations along its stretch and understand its impacts on the prevailing
architectural language of the city-river interface. Primarily intended to sensitize young minds towards the
cultural and ecological significance of the river, this study will help to develop and provide deep insights on
the patterns of evolution and transformation of a place in response to the relationship it bears with the river.

Proposed Team Structure

Corresponding to the number of locations, there shall be 4 teams where in each team shall have a mix of
students from all the years i.e. II, III and IV years from B.Arch. Each team has a total strength of
approximately 50 students and therefore Minimum 3 faculty coordinators will be allotted in order to
maintain a student – teacher ratio of 17 : 1.
