What is a milling machine or frais machine ?
Definition
• Milling is a process performed with a machine in which the cutters
rotate to remove the material from the work piece present in the
direction of the angle with the tool axis. With the help of the milling
machines one can perform many operations and functions starting
from small objects to large ones.
• What makes the difference between this machine and the other
manufacturing machine is, this machine rotate its cutter and make
the work piece goes trought it, to decrease the material substance.
What is the main part of the machine
The main part is :
1. Cutter : main part of the machine, act for removing the material substance
2. Chuck : a place that used to hold the cutter, so it could rotate
3. main power switch ( with a key ) : a switch that control the electric power to run the machine
4. On / off button : it consist of left green/red button, and midle left/green button, used to make the cutter rotate and start the
process of milling
5. Table axis adjustment : used to control the tables position, there ar three type of tabe axis, which are :
a. Lateral axis
b. Longitudinal axis
c. Verical axis
6. Rpm adjusment : used to control the rotation of the cutter ( the rpm depends on the work piece material and the cutter material )
7. Table lamp : act as a lighting support
8. Vise : used to hold the workpiece
9. Work bench : place for the vise and the work piece
10. Soluble oil and its switch : act as a coolant for the cutter and the workpiece
How does it work ?

• So
1. first, insert the key to the main power switch and turn it on
2. After that, install the cutter to the chuck with a chuck key
3. And then place the work piece on the vice and tight it up, then place
it on the work bench
4. Then adjust the table position according to the jobsheet, with the
table axis adjustment
5. After we adjust the table, adjust the rpm with the rpm adjustment (
the rpm depends on what is the workpiece material and the cutter
material )
6. Dont forget to turn the lamp on
4. Soon after that, push the left green button on the machine ( the on/off
button ) so the cutter turns to rotate
5. Do the first setting, adjust the cutter to touch the workpiece, just touch to
it, and then check the job sheet, and what does it requires.
5. And then turn on soluble oil ( act as as coolant ) and push the midle green
button , to turn the machine to automatic mode ( the work bench will move
to the right or left automaticly)
6. Let the machine do the work, but dont forget to turn on and aim the
soluble oil to the encounter of the cutter and the work piece
7. When it had finished, push the mid red button to turn off the automatic
mode, push the left red button to turn off the machine, and turn off the
soluble oi
8. Adjust the table so we could took the workpiece from the vice, and if it
has fulfill the requirement
8. Turn off the lamp, and turn off the machine main power key by turn the
key to off position.
What things that we shouldnt do when we are
going to operate a milling or fraise machine
1. Didnt wear the k3 kit, such as :
A. Wearpack
B. Safety glasses
C. Safety shoes
D. Safety helmet
1. Do not forget to see the job sheet frequently, because it could make us
forget the work piece requirement
2. Forgot to aim the soluble oil to the encounter of the workpiece and the
cutter, because it could broke the cutter
3. And the last is, do not touch nor grab the cutter when machine is in on
position
