sufficiently detailed to give students the ability to successfully analyse a relatively complex set of financial statements.

personality tests and a 360 survey, gives you awareness of your strengths and areas for development.

Purpose of Finance (core course): Understand the private and public benefit which the finance industry delivers, whether it serves that purpose well, how the techniques learned on the MiF can
help the industry in fulfilling its purpose, and what other, complimentary disciplines students might need to use when applying the skills they have learned.

Professional Development Courses (core requirement): During your programme you need to complete two Professional Development Courses. These are half day sessions. The first course will
be on Presentation Skills which will take place during the Autumn term. You can choose which course you do from the list on the previous page and these will take place in Spring and Summer.

Electives (core requirement): Tailor your learning to meet your career ambitions. You need to complete 7-10 electives and can choose electives from our three main subject areas; Accounting,
Finance and Economics. There are also a few electives available from Management Science & Operations and Strategy & Entrepreneurship Subject Areas.

• Accounting Subject Area: Accounting is the language of business and an understanding of accounting and an ability to interpret and analyse financial statements is a basic skill that everyone in
business should possess. Electives in financial accounting will provide you with the ability to understand and analyse the financial performance of firms based on interpreting the data contained
in their financial statements.
• Finance Subject Area: Finance is at the core of any business, simply because any business needs funds to start or expand, and it is critical to understand the relation between risk and return.
Hence, understanding finance is of critical importance for any business manager.
• Economics Subject Area: Economics offers a range of electives which are essentially aimed at improving decision making. The electives provide a set of tools with which to analyse a variety of
business problems and better understand data and evidence. As recent events have shown all too clearly, the economy is a major determinant of corporate and financial success and
understanding how these forces evolve going forward is a key business skill.

We will give you more information about what you can chose and the process in September 2017. We will present your 4th term options in December 2017. If you take the 4 th term, the maximum
number of credits you can complete during your whole programme will be 10.
