 Soft technology
-technology does not build anything physical or tangible
-the techniques, knowledge and processes that have to
do with social processes and human interactions

oHard Technology
- term used to designate the know exclusively technical,
applied to the production of machinery, products,
materials, etc.

TECHNOLOGIES ACCORDING TO THE AREA IN
WHICH THEY ARE DEVELOPED
 Agricultural technology
-refers to technology for the production of machines used on a
farm to help with farming. Agricultural machines have been designed
for practically every stage of the agricultural process.
-Example technologies ( harvester, water sprayer drones,
farmer robots, driverless tractors)

4
IMPACTS:

 -increase in food production

 -increases in rural poor

 -urban congestion

 -pollution

5
ASSISTIVE TECHNOLOGY
 Is a technology , or enhancements or methods of using technology,
that make it possible for disabled persons to use technology (or to
use it easily) that they were formerly unable to use (or to use with
only some difficulty).
 Example technologies (liftware, sesame phone, talkit, axs map,
dots)

6
IMPACTS:

 -education
 PWD’s Access in Education
 Simplify learning and teaching

 -employment
 Help in maintaining skillls, can work independently
and with greater ease

7
ARCHITECTURAL TECHNOLOGY

 Is the application of building design and

construction science to solve technical issues in
architecture.
 Example technologies (CAD tools, computer-assisted collaboration,
computer-assisted construction, Internet based virtual places)

8
IMPACTS
 Changes in the discipline in architecture
 Helps architects to work efficiently and can
optimized material.

9
BIOTECHNOLOGY

-involves living systems and organisms to develop or make

products, or a technological application that uses biological systems,
living organisms, or derivatives that make or modify products or
processes for specific use.
-Example technologies (xenotransplantation, gene cloning,
antibiotics, Recombinant DNA technology)

10
IMPACTS
 Meet human needs or demands in order to
improve our quality of life.
 - Heal the world
 -Fuel the world
 -Feed the world

11
ENVIRONMENTAL TECHNOLOGY
 is the application of one or more of environmental science, green
chemistry, environmental monitoring and electronic devices to
monitor, model and conserve the natural environment and
reosurces and to curb he negative impacts of human.
 Example technologies (natural plastic, vertical farming)

12
IMPACTS
 Helps sustain resources by using renewable
energy.
 Makes our planet a healthier place

 Preserves planet for future generations

13
MILITARY TECHNOLOGY
 is the application of technology for use in warfare..

 Example technologies ( swarm drones, army robot)

14
EDUCATION TECHNOLOGY
 Is the study and ethical practice facilitating learning and
improving performance by creating, using and managing
appropriate technological processes and resources.
 Example technology ( Virtual and Augmented Learning
Experiences, Gamification, Cloud Computing Technology, Digital
Course Material)

15
IMPACTS
-help students grasp a concept easily
-makes learning fun and enjoyable to students
- improves globalization, no geographical
limitations
-declining writing skills
-increase incidents of cheating in students
-lack of focus and concentration skills

16
ELECTRONICS TECHNOLOGY
 concerned with the development, behaviour, and applications
of electronic devices and circuits for manufacturing and
maintaining industrial machineries and processes.
 Example Technologies ( Convertible laptops and cellphones,
Robotic Process Automation, Internet of things)

17
FOOD TECHNOLOGY
 Deals with the production of processes that makes food.
 Application of food science to the selection, preservation,
processing, packaging , distribution and use of safe food
 Example Technologies (Ghost Restaurants, Virtual Reality, Smart Ovens)
