Title

Why Wind Power?

• Free and renewable Resource

• Source of clean and non-polluting electricity
Why VAWT instead of HAWT?
• Unidirection so, yawing system is not needed
• Quiet operation
• Easy to fabricate
Why Portable?

• Location
• Easy to fabricate
Statement of the problem
• What is the minimum and utmost wind speed in
order to make the turbine generate electricity?
• Is portable wind turbine can produce the required
voltage?
• Is there any significant difference between control
groups of portable wind turbine in terms of voltage
output every 10seconds ?
Hypothesis

• The researchers hypothesized that the portable

vertical axis wind turbine has the capability to
produce voltage output
• The minimum and the utmost wind speed to reach
the required voltage output should be determined.
• There is no significance difference between control
and experimental set-ups of voltage output
Significance of the study

• To help people
• Widening the limitation of VAWT
• To evaluate the portable VAWT Design

Having Constant Wind speed
• Blower is used
• Computing the wind speed by this formula
RPS= RPM/60
Angular velocity is given by,
Omega=2π×(rps)
Linear velocity is given by
V=omega ×radius
M/s =r×2π×(rps)
Set-ups

• Set A ( prototype with .88 m/s)

• Set B( prototype with 1.10 m/s)
• Set C ( prototype with 1.32 m/s)
• Set D (prototype without wind power)

Summary
• Set B with 1.10 m/s is the minimum and Set C
with 1.32m/s is the maximum wind speed to reach
the ideal voltage output.
• the portable vertical axis wind turbine design reach
the ideal voltage to help those in need.
• The statistical analysis illustrates that the set-ups
were significant except Set A
• The null hypothesis that there is no significance
difference between control and experiment group
of set-ups in terms of voltage output is rejected
Conclusions

• The hypothesis that the portable vertical axis wind turbine

design of turbine has the capability to produce voltage
output by testing it to a multi-tester is accepted.

• Set B with 1.10 m/s is the minimum and Set C with

1.32m/s is the maximum wind speed to reach the ideal
voltage output
Recommendation
1.Use a strong magnet that can produce more
electricity
2. Think of another type of turbine. It can be
Horizontal Axis Wind Turbine however, yawing
system is needed.
3.Aerodynamic computation of the blade
4.Reducing the weight of the materials
