Four steps:
1 coal-particle drying, and then heating to the pyrolysis reaction temperature;
2 pyrolysis of the coal particle to produce non-condensable volatiles (gases), condensable
volatiles (tars) and a carbonaceous char;
3 oxidation of the combustible volatiles; and finally
4 char oxidation.

Project Title: Use of coal combustion catalyst Bulab9672 to reduce coal consumption Project member: Sarto & MyongHyeok
and Increase coal to steam ratio in Circulating Fluidized Bed (CFBC) boiler system.
Solution Implementation Plan:
Buckman was collect coal boiler operation performance before, during and after applying Bulab
Project Description / Purpose: 9672.Plant trial was performed for five ( 5) days operation in one boiler system. We monitor and collect
Customer has strong management message to reduce energy cost by reduce Boiler by 24 data

operation cost to be at least 10% from an existing operation cost. The idea to reduce cost by storage hopper. We also do regular calibration process to make sure our chemical dosage running
changing Coal quality from 4500 Cal to 3000. Then we set target achievement by : properly Regular check on some important operation parameter .
1. Reduce coal consumption, ( < 4 % coal saving)
2. Increase coal to steam ratio.
3. Reduce C content at fly ash, (< 5% C in fly ash)
Current Situation:
Customer is Power Plant belong to sugar refinery in Indonesia. Customer produce a
premium sugar quality to supply F&B customer, like coca cola and others. Plant capacity is
1500 TPD. They has 5 units boiler of CFB boilers system and generate electric power 2x15
MW to support their process and utility operational. Due to high cost of energy and
increasing operation cost, customer want to improve plant reliabilities and energy
management in the boiler system and able to reduce boiler cost operation by at least 10% Results:
from an existing total cost of operation. Buckman proposes Bulab 9672 to be apply at one of • Bulab 9672 was shown improvement in coal consumption from 225 T/D to 186 T/D, Coal saving more
boiler system to help customer concern and as reference to others boiler system. than 17% from an consumption. Coal to steam ratio also increase from 4.4 to 5.3.
Goals / Bounty: • ROI calculated percentage is (USD1082.7/USD1530)*100 = 70.7 %
Need to reduce Boiler Operation Cost at least 10% from current cost. Other potential bounty are fly ash treatment cost will significantly reduce. Due to C content reduce.
Reduce Carbon content at fly bottom ash less than 5%. Then switch the fly waste from Please see the graph of performance:
