CHOPPER AND BASECUTTER DOESN’T WORK

HYDRAULIC CHECK
1. PERFORM A CHARGE PRESSURE TEST. REMOVE ALL HOSES CONNECTED TO THE CHARGE PRESSURE TEST PORT. INSTALL A 41 BAR
OR 600 PSI GAUGE ON THE CHARGE PRESSURE TEST PORT. START THE ENGINE AND INSURE THAT THE PARK BRAKE IS ENGAGED.
TURN ON THE HARVESTING FUNCTIONS, ONCE THE FUNCTIONS COME ON, RUN THE ENGINE TO FULL THROTTLE… IS CHARGE
PRESSURE 25 BAR OR 360 PSI ?
YES : GO TO STEP 2 NO : GO TO STEP 3
2. INSTALL A 690 BAR OR 10,000 PSI GAUGE ON THE (A) AND (B) PORTS OF THE CHOPPER / BASECUTTER PUMP. SECURE THE
CHOPPER IN FORWARD TO PREVENT MOVEMENT. START THE ENGINE, INSURE AT THE PARK BRAKE IS ON. TURN THE HARVESTING
FUNCTIONS ON IN FORWARD AND RUN TO FULL THROTTLE. IS PRESSURE AT 345 BAR ( 5000 PSI ) ON A STANDARD HARVESTER OR
380 BAR (5500 PSI) ON HIGH PREFORMANCE?

YES : GO TO STEP 5 NO : CAN THE RELIEF BE ADJUSTED ? YES : ADJUST THE RELIEF NO : REPAIR THE RELIEF VALVE

NOTE : IF YOU ARE UNABLE TO SET THE RELIEF ON THE PUMP, CHECK THE RELIEF AT THE CHOPPER MOTOR. THIS RELIEF IS SET
WITH A HAND PUMP TO 414 BAR (6000 PSI).
3. REMOVE THE HOSES FROM THE (A) AND (B) PORT ON THE CHOPPER / BASECUTTER PUMP. INSTALL CAPS ON THE FITTINGS AND
PLUG IN THE HOSES. START THE ENGINE , INSURE THE PARK BRAKE IS ENGAGED. TURN THE HARVESTING FUNCTION ON IN THE
FORWARD MODE AND RUN THE ENGINE TO FULL THROTTLE. IS PRESSURE AT 345 BAR (5000 PSI) ON STANDARD HARVESTER OR
380 BAR ( 5500 PSI) ON HIGH PREFORMANCE HARVESTER ?

YES : REPAIR CHOPPER MOTOR NO : CAN THE RELIEF BE SET ? YES : ADJUST THE RELIEF NO : REPAIR THE PUMP

4. RECONNECT THE HOSES TO THE PUMP. DOES THE CHOPPERS AND BASECUTTER WORK ?

YES : DONE NO : GO TO STEP 5


5. SECURE THE BASECUTTER IN THE FORWARD MODE TO PREVENT IT FROM TURNING. START THE ENGINE, INSURE AT THE PARK
BRAKE IS ENGAGED. TURN THE HARVESTING FUNCTIONS ON IN THE FORWARD MODE AND RUN THE ENGINE TO FULL THROTTLE. IS
THE PRESSURE AT 345 BAR (5000 PSI) ON A STANDARD MACHINE OR 380 BAR (5500 PSI) ON A HIGH PERFORMANCE MACHINE ?

YES : GO TO STEP 7 NO : CAN THE RELIEF BE ADJUSTED ?


YES : ADJUST THE RELIEF NO : IS THE CHARGE PRESSURE AT 25 BAR (360
PSI)
YES : GO TO STEP 6 NO : REPAIR THE CHOPPER MOTOR
6. CHECK THE BASECUTTER RELIEF VALVES IN THE MOTOR. IS THE RELIEF GOOD ?
YES : GO TO STEP 7 NO : REPAIR THE RELIEF

7. CHECK THE BASECUTTER AND CHOPPERS TO SEE IF ONE OF THEM HAS A CHOKE . IS ONE OF THEM CHOKED ?
YES : REPAIR NO : CHECK THE BASECUTTER MOTOR FOR LEAKAGE
