Let's observe and think!

4
Factors that affect corrosion

◍ Water and O2 ◍ Uneven metal surface

◍ pH area
◍ Electrolyte solution ◍ The presence of
impurities
◍ Temperature
◍ The formation of
electrochemical
cells

Case 1

◍ When Anita was working on her school assignments,

namely making clippings, she wanted to cut out the
newspaper for the clipping material. Then he took the
scissors he used to use but was slightly rusty.
However, if used, the cut out newspaper will be dirty
and the cutout results will become untidy because the
scissors are dull. Finally Anita borrowed scissors
from her father. Anita asked her father why the
scissors could rust, even though the scissors were the
scissors he used to use, while the scissors owned by
his father did not rust.

Case 2

◍ In the city of X area there has been acid rain. After

the acid rain, Mr. Ari's house fence immediately
corroded. Acid rain alone has a tremendous impact on
the lives of all living things on Earth. Impacts that
can be caused by acid rain include: plants wither,
dry and die, damage aquatic ecosystems and cause
corrosion and damage to buildings.

Case 3

◍ Andi is trying to do a simple experiment to find out

the corrosion factors. Here he uses nails as a
sample. In the experiment he put nails in a different
glass which contained empty air, boiling distilled
water, distilled water, salt solution, and cooking
oil. As follows :

◍ After 3 days of silence, the nail was

taken and observed. Observation
