of Avifauna in sitio Kilap-agan

and Panangan, barangay Can-
ayan, Malaybalay City, Bukidnon
This study aimed to assess the species composition
and status of birds in Sitio Kilap-agan and
Panangan, Barangay Can-ayan, Malaybalay City,
Bukidnon.
Specifically, it answered the following questions:
•What is the species composition of birds?
• What is the morphotaxonomy of the bird
species?

Conclusion
Species composition and status of Avifauna in
sitio Kilap-agan and Panangan, Can-ayan,
Malaybalay City, Bukidnon
Seven species of birds from seven genera belonging to six families
were collected and documented in Sitio Kilap-agan and Panangan,
Barangay Can-ayan, Malaybalay City, Bukidnon. Of these, 1
nectariniidae (Arachnothera flammifera), 1 psittaculidae (Loriculus
philippensis), 2 columbidae (Phapitreron amethystinus & Macropygia
amboinensis), 1 Muscicapidae (Ficedula crypta), 1 Zosteropidae
(Heleia goodfellowi) and 1 Corvidae (Corvus enca) bird species were
assessed as Least Concerned by the IUCN Red List. Therefore, the
two selected sites are capable of sustaining life. Most bird species are
rare since they’re endemic only in the Philippines except the two
other species which are Cukoo dove (Macropygia amboinensis) and
Crow (Corvus enca). Results advised to maintain also to improve the
conservation strategies or techniques, seeks protection in the area
and not to wait the least concerned be concerned.
