Work Immersion

As stipulated in DepEd Order No. 30, series of

2017, Work Immersion for Senior High School is
made up of three phases namely Pre-Immersion,
Immersion Proper, and Post Immersion. There
are corresponding input and expected outputs to
be accomplished by students as they engaged in
the different experiential learning.
Work Immersion
Activities
 Informational Interviewing. The students will
have a one-time appointment with a professional
like chemist, medical technologist, engineer, nurse,
statistician among others to gather information
about a specific career and to inquire how they
analyse samples, design gadgets, treat diseases,
manage patients which could elicit them to answer
the research questions as required in the Capstone
project. The output from this activity is reflected in
the narrative report and Field notes.
 Job Shadowing. Along with informative
interviewing, students will observe a professional
at work site for a certain period of time. They will
accomplish an observation Log, take photos
narrative report and reflective journal.
IMRADC format from URC
Consists of the following:
 Title/Topic
Defense
 Proposal Defense

INTRODUCTION
Background of the Study
- Provides a background/scenario which
leads to the present investigation
- Cites existing literature that requires,
supports, or promotes importance of the
topic
- Mentions some related studies and
briefly discusses their findings
- Discusses how the existing problem has
been addressed so far and how it can
be further explored
- Expresses the desire to have a deeper
and clearer understanding of a situation,
circumstance, or phenomenon
- May express the gap or limitations in
literature to justify the conduct of the
study (Swales, 1990 cited in Magbanua,
2011)
- Links all this to the aim of the study
Statement of the Problem
- States the main goal of the study
- Lists down the specific objectives/problems

Example:
Specific Objectives
Descriptive Objective (example)
What is the microbial growth of the
Methicillin-resistant Staphylococcus aureus using
varying concentrations of ginger (Zinginber
officinale) plant extract?

Inferential Objective (example)

Is there a significant difference in the microbial
growth of the Methicillin-resistant Staphylococcus
aureus using varying concentrations of ginger
(Zinginber officinale) plant extract?
Hypothesis/Hypotheses
- Includes this to test for significant
relationship or difference between or among
variables
Example:
Schematic Diagram
- Presents this in a diagram or illustration
by identifying the key factors, concepts,
or variables of the study
- (uses Independent Variable-Dependent
Variable relationship)
- IV-DV (experimental research)
- Input-Output (engineering/product
development)
Conceptual Framework
- Discusses the system of concepts,
assumptions, expectations, and beliefs
that support the study
Scope and Limitations
- States the locale of the study, the population
from which the
respondents/participants/subjects and data
will be selected/collected and the period of the
study
- Discusses the limitations or constraints of the
study
Significance of the Study
- Discusses the relevance of the study
- Discusses how the paper could best
benefit related groups of people in the
organization and other sectors of
society
Definition of Terms
- Identifies the salient terms in the study -
- Provides both the conceptual meaning
(with cited reference) and the operational
meaning for each term
Review of Related Literature
- According to Kwan (2009), “literature
review, whether it is written for a thesis, a
proposal, or a research article is an
extensive survey of empirical and
theoretical literature…” (p.5). It is an
interpretation and synthesis of published
research.(Merriam, 1998, p.6 cited in
Murray, 2010)
- Provides related concepts and studies
and discusses their findings
- Provides synthesis
- May express the gap in literature to
justify the conduct of the study (Swales,
1990 cited in Magbanua, 2011)
- Employs the THEMATIC APPROACH
Types of Literature
Research Literature- written reports on
result of researches or studies which
were done previously
Conceptual Literature- consists of
articles or books written by
authorities giving their opinions,
experiences, theories or ideas on a
specific topic
