What is star?
• A star is type of Astronomical object consisting
of a luminous spheroid of plasma held
together by its own gravity . The nearest star
to Earth is the Sun .
Stellar evolution :-
• Stellar evolution is the process by which a star changes over
the course of time.
• Nuclear fusion powers a star for most of its life. Initially the
energy is generated by the fusion of hydrogen atoms at the core
of the main-sequence star.
BIRTH OF A STAR :-
• Nebula :- It is an interstellar cloud
of dust , Hydrogen .

• Andromeda galaxy for instance, was

once referred to as the Andromeda
Nebula

PROTOSTAR :-
• Stellar evolution starts with the gravitational
collapse of a giant molecular gas . Typical
giant molecular clouds are roughly 100 light-
years (9.5×1014 km) across and contain up to
6,000,000 solar masses (1.2×1037 kg). As the
temperature and pressure increase, a
fragment condenses into a rotating sphere of
superhot gas known as PROTOSTAR.

BROWN DWARF :-
• As gravity continues to pull ever
more matter inward towards the core, its
temperature, pressure and density
increases. If a critical temperature in the
core of a protostar is reached,
then Nuclear fusion begins and a star is
born. If the critical temperature is not
reached, however, it ends up as a brown
dwarf , or dead star , and never
attains star status.

• OTHER STAGES ARE :-
• Pulsar star
• Neutron star
• Red giant phase
• Supernova explosion
• White dwarf
• Blackhole
RED GIANT PHASE :-
• red giant is a luminous giant star of low
or intermediate mass in a late phase of
steller evolution. the radius being large
and the surface temperature around
5,000 K (4,700 °C; 8,500 °F) or lower.
The appearance of the red giant is from
yellow-orange to red, including the
spectral type K and M .

SUPERNOVA :-

• A supernova is an event that occurs

upon the death of certain types of
stars. Supernovae are more energetic
than novae. In Latin, nova means
"new", referring astronomically to what
appears to be a temporary new bright
star.
