PRESENTATION PCE

ONE OF THE REQUIREMENT TO BECOME A PCE SPECIALIST

What does the PCE mean?
 PCE (pressure Control Equipment) are those equipment that
helps in maintaining the optimal pressure levels inside
wellbore when any well intervention operations.

 Pressure Control Equipment consists a various equipment

and parts such as : Head (Tool) Catcher, flowtube, Line
Wiper, Riser, BOP (Wireline Valve), ect.

 As per requirement i will try to describe and explain about

some part or equipment such as : Head (tool) catcher, Triple
ram BOP and the pumps Which are used for PCE (Wiwa and
Haskel).
Head (Tool) Catcher
 What is tool catcher?
Tool Catcher is a part which is used to catch the tool
safely both during the pressure test and in the event of
the cable being stripped from the rope socket or cable
head. the tool catcher will engage the top of cable head
or fishing neck and prevent the loss of the tool string in
the hole or well.

Tool catcher is designed to be fail safe : it is therefore

permanently in the catch position once the rope socket
or cable head is engage in the collet assembly, hydraulic
pressure is required to release it.
Main parts of tool catcher  How does it works

 Pressure up the hydraulic line

 Piston start moving up and and will
compresses Piston spring also
 Collet Assembly start moving up with
the piston and start compressing the
collet spring
 Collet Assembly start opening up as it
goes over collet mandrel
 Tool gets released
Triple Ram BOP
 Triple Ram BOP or Wireline Valve is designed to control well
pressure by sealing around the cable and is used when we
want to repair the cable under pressure. And is used for
preventive the blown out.

 Main parts of the triple Ram BOP ( Wireline Valve) :

1. Ram consist of : Ram body, Ram guide, inner seal,
Outer seal.

2. Manifold block : is used for equalizing function and also

the connection for grease injection

Ram Close

Ram open
How it does works

 When want to close ram we

need to apply hydraulic fluid
by pumping the fluid into an
outer chamber, to push the
piston (which is connected
to the rams). Oil from the
inner chamber returns to the
reservoir

Manifold Block

 If requirement to close BOP there are many

step to following :
 Close upper Ram
 Close lower Ram
 Close Valve A, B, D, dan F
 Open valve C to monitor Grease injection pressure
 Open valve E and inject grease in between upper and
lower rams.
Triple Ram BOP Maintenance
 Triple Ram BOP need to be carefully maintained in 3
periodic maintenance :
1. Level 1 service to be carried out after job
- Wash down.
- Initial inspection - remove rams and Cylinders.
- inspect all seals.
- remove valves and inspect.
- Grease up and rebuild
- Function and pressure test atworking pressure.
- Check lifting gear and record last certification type
and date.
2. Level 2 Service – To be carried out 0nce a year
- Carry out Level 1 service procedure
- Replace all ‘O’ rings, inspect all the component for
corrosion or damage along the way.
- Rebuild every parts and pressure test to working
pressure
- Third party agency to witness pressure test and
function test
3. Level 3 Service – To be carried out every 5 years
- Carry out Levels 1 and 2 service procedure
- Strip all the parts or component discarding all ‘O’
ring and back-up ’O’ ring.
- MPI (Magnetic Particle Inspection) of all parts.
Haskel Pump
Troubleshooting

 Air Drive Section

Pump not cycle and air exhausts continuously from muffler.
remove air exhaust muffler and fitting located in the end cap
pull out spool, and change all ‘O’ ring.

Pump not cycle and air exhaust continuously from pilot vent.
check air cycling valve and replace the pilot stem.
 Hydraulic Section
Pump cycles but will not pump
Inspect inlet check valve parts for contamination or
damage

Pump will not stall

inspect inlet check valve parts. Repair it as required
per instructions in manual

Outlet pressure drops during suction stroke

Inspect outlet check valve parts. Repair it as required
per instructions in manual.
Maintenance

• Do not exceed 150 psi input air pressure maximum.

• Check that the air outlet filter is not blocked if the
pump refuse to start. Change filter every year
• Inlet filler. This is located in the hydraulic tank and
must be removed and cleaned every year. Access to
the filter is by removing the hydraulic tank top plate
• Do not run the pump with an empty hydraulic tank

Maintenance
 Daily – if compressed air is we at least twice daily,
drain oil and water separator with line pressure on
and blow out water.
 Check droplet metering and oil level, refill if required
 Sereve operating conditions may cause frosting of air
motor. To prevent it, fill fog oiler with mixture of scale
1:1 regular SAE 10 oil and glycol.
 Check or top of scpecially formulated lubricant in
pump lube chamber or wet – cup of packing take-up
nut.
 Do not kink or bend high pressure fluid hose into less
than a four inch radius.
