so I decided to do them for my project. I researched lots of interesting things about them that you will find in the next following slides. I have made sure that you will not go to sleep so most of the information is either interesting or gruesome. Who’s who? In the next couple of slides you will find information about the Tudor family. You should find information about Henry the V11 , Henry the V111 , Edward the V1 , Lady Jane Grey , Mary the 1 ( Mary Tudor) and Elizabeth the 1. Henry the V11 (Henry Tudor of Lancaster) He was King from 1485 to 1509 (24 years). He defeated King Richard the 111 at the Battle of Bosworth and took his crown. He married Elizabeth of York to stop their two families whingeing and scraping over the crown. Henry the V111 Henry was king from 1509 to 1547 (38 years). He was the son of Henry the V11. He wanted a son to keep the Tudor family going and didn’t care how many wives he had until he got one. When he got rid of his first wife by divorcing her the Head of the Catholic Church (the Pope) didn’t approve of it…so Henry made his very own church (The Church Of England) with himself as the Head. He got rid of the Catholic monasteries with their monks and nuns (the money he got for their riches came in very handy) but still worshiped as a Catholic, and chopped the heads off of those who didn’t!!! Edward the V1 Edward the V1 became king from 1547 to 1553 (6 years). He became King at just 9 years old so he had a protector called the Duke of Somerset to “help” him out. King Edward was engaged to Mary the Queen of the Scots, but this fell through. Just as well, really , as Edward was a Protestant and Mary a Catholic, which would have caused big problems. The Duke of Northumberland, made Edward get rid of Somerset. Northumberland became the next Protector – what a surprise! But soon Edward was sickly and died of tuberculosis at the age of 16 so he didn’t rule very long either. Lady Jane Grey She was Queen of England in 1553 until Mary took over. Put on the throne by Northumberland , who persuaded Edward to make her his heir because she was a protestant and the great-great granddaughter of Henry the V11. She was also Northumberland’s daughter-in-law! Lady Jane only sat on the throne for nine days then Mary Tudor raised an army and walloped Northumberland. So Lady Jane was pushed off the throne and her head on the block. Elizabeth 1 Queen of England from 1558 to 1603 (45 years). She had to pretend to be a Catholic while Mary Tudor was Queen , just to keep her happy. But changed both herself and England into protestants when she came to the throne. She had locked up Mary (Queen of the Scots) and chopped off her head because she was a Catholic and because Catholic Europe thought that Mary should also be Queen of England. Elizabeth never married because she said that she was married to England! Thank you for reading
