SYNOPSIS
BODY OF SYNOPSIS
Students must prepare and develop the following sections within their proposals:
• TITLE PAGE
• INTRODUCTION AND BACKGROUND OF THE STUDY
• AIM
• OBJECTIVES
• SCOPE AND LIMITATIONS (PROGRAM AND SITE)
• METHODOLOGY
• IDENTIFICATION OF LIVE PROJECT SITE.
• TENTATIVE PROGRAM ACTIVITIES AND USE.
• LIST CASE STUDIES
• BIBLIOGRAPHY / WEBLIOGRAPHY
TITLE:
•State the title of your thesis.
•State a concise subtitle phrase that refers to the idea basis, context or program of your
thesis.

INTRODUCTION AND BACKGROUND OF THE STUDY:

Briefly explain the Architectural/technological/social relevance or significance of the

research work of your thesis topic. Be precise and include only relevant background
material in the introduction. Provide information on past works by way of giving
appropriate references.

•Discuss the issues that are central to your design thesis. What is the historical and
theoretical context for the ideas behind your thesis? Link the discussion to sources from
your annotated bibliography. Discuss the citations.

•Discuss the cultural context of your thesis. In what ways is your project situated in and
influenced by the culture in which we live?

•What technical issues can you foresee becoming important?

AIMS
•State the broader aim in single sentence.
•The Aim of the project is the overall purpose of the study, should be clearly and concisely
defined.
OBJECTIVES:
•State specific objectives that you have envisaged for the work
•State the issues, concepts, and questions that are central to your thesis.
•Objectives are the goals or the steps on the way of meeting the aim. State precisely the
questions for which the answers are sought through this thesis work. Define the conceptual,
analytical, experimental and/or methodological boundaries within which the exercise will be
carried out.
•This should all be explained in points.

SCOPE AND LIMITATIONS:

•Admit with clarity the limitations and scope of such study. Discuss exhaustively the scope of
the project envisaged by you in terms of the programmatic needs and demands emphasizing
on design outcomes.
•Scope identifies the boundaries or coverage of the study in terms of subjects, facilities,
area, time, frame and the issues to which the study is focused.
•State definitively the limitations you will be bound by in your project. Limitations of the study
defines the constraints or weaknesses, which are not within the control of the researcher.
•This should all be explained in points.
•METHODOLOGY
•Flowchart of outline of the processes involved during the study. Attention is given to the
nature and kinds of processes to be followed in a particular procedure or to attain an
objective.
•IDENTIFICATION OF LIVE PROJECT SITE.
•Give Area, Location, Requirements, and Satellite Image of the proposed Site.
•The student has to identify a possible and suitable site for the proposal where the conclusions
and solutions can be carried out. The site in proposal has to be real, as acknowledged in
actual proposal, also mention the reference document or article for the selected site. The area
of site should be more than 2 acres.
•TENTATIVE PROGRAM ACTIVITIES AND USE
•Give tentative requirement of the program activities to be proposed on the project site.
•LIST CASE STUDIES
•For developing the project list the probable two literature studies and two live Case
studies(PROTO-TYPE). Give the name of case studies with details such as Site Area and
requirements and Indicate clearly why you have chosen the particular case for study.
•BIBLIOGRAPHY /WEBLIOGRAPHY
•List of all of the sources you have used
