What is CyberCrime?
• Also known as computer related crime
• Is crime that involves a computer and a network.
• The computer may have been used in the
commission of a crime, or it may be the target.
• First coined by William Gibson in 1982 popularized
in his 1984 novel “Neuromancer”.

section 33a of the E-Commerce Law or
Republic Act 8792.
Case #2 : Call Center Hacking
• May 2006
• Jeffric Carlos Abiera
• Hacking a company's system to steal credit card
information.
• He was sentenced on May 4 by the Quezon City
metropolitan court to a minimum imprisonment of
one to two years plus a fine of P100,000 (US$5,858)
in violation of section 33 of the E-Commerce Law.
