Early Years
 Born on April 12, 1981
 Moved to Hawaii at the age of two
 Raised in a multicultural and multireligious household
 Volunteered regularly (involved in “service days”- picking
up litter, preparing food for the homeless, etc.)
 Co-founded Healthy Hawaii Coalition
 Taught at schools the importance of protecting our land
and our water resources
Military Service
 Enlisted in the Army after the 9/11
attacks
 Served at a base in the Sumni
Triangle at the height of war in Iraq
 2 tours of duty in the Middle East
 Between her tours, she worked in
the U.S. Senate as a legislative aide
to Senator Danny Akaka, where she
focused on veterans’ issues

school minus two years at a
Christian missionary academy for

Why she is running
Believes “People before profit”- the
government is to be “of, by, and for
the people”
Says we need leaders with the
courage to stand up to the military
industrial complex that profits from a
perpetual war economy

main caucus in the presidential
nomination.
