Objective
• Chennai-based logistics startup Lynk has raised $3 Mn (INR 20 Cr) in
funding from the existing investor Ramco Group.
• Founded by Abinav Raja and Shekhar Bhende, Lynk Logistics is a
technology platform for Intra-city logistics that connects shipper with
transporter through their app.
• The duo first launched their services via a mobile app in Chennai and
are now planning to expand to other cities.
• Leveraging the power of technology, the web, and app-based online logistics
platform offers simplified way of truck hiring while tracking and moving moves
goods from one location to another.
• In late 2014, inspired by Uber’s and AirBnB asset light platform which
disrupted their respective industries, they began to wonder whether similar
models could create substantial value in India.
• Over 30,000 unique customers access the platform every month and more
than 2.5 lakh transactions have been completed on the platform so far.

• The platform further claimed to has over 1,500 registered mini-trucks, with the
top drivers earning close to $685 (INR 45K) a month. .
• The drivers now do more than three trips a day now, compared with just one
or two previously.
• The Indian logistics industry is forecasted to touch $307 Bn by 2020. Currently
valued at $130 Bn, around 35%-40% of the market is in the intra-city space.
• It is also estimated that 1.8 Mn small commercial vehicles complete millions of
transactions daily, across the country.
• International enquiries are also coming in, and Lynk is looking at extending
the business to South East Asia.

• An estimated 50,000 Light Commercial Vehicles (LCV) are available in
Chennai but accessing their services is not easy for the average individual.
• The back-end operations backbone is powered by Ramco Systems, which
gives it the capability to match demand and supply in real time and keep track
of goods’ movement.
• Over 500 LCVs are available on Lynk’s App and call centre.
• Lynk offers multiple benefits including fair price based on a detailed algorithm.
• The fare is 20-40 per cent cheaper as compared with traditional negotiation-
based hire.
• The driver or truck owner benefits from higher capacity utilisation of truck
through more trips.
• The fare structure is transparent and is framed to encourage efficiency from
both the parties.
• Neither the driver nor the client want to keep each other waiting. Lynk gets
about 20-30 per cent of the fare.
• Drivers, who normally make 1-2 trips a day now have started getting 4-5 trips.4 4
