Overview
 The training and development of our workforce is a key investment strategy for
individual and organizational success. The Quality systems to meet the training
and development needs to fulfill organizational skill requirements, and to expedite
the competency towards the quality job performance and safe work practice.
 Aim
• Provide quality
• To increase individual and organizational productivity and enrichment.
• Provide development opportunities that enhance knowledge, develop skills in blasting
and painting operations to meet the specified standards.
• To obtain the 100% results in the Trade Test.

Learning objectives.
• Basics of Corrosion and it’s effects on engineered steel structures.
• Basics of Environmental Conditions and it’s effects on blasting and painting works.
• Overview of the blasting and painting equipment's and it’s safety guidelines.
• Surface preparation of the engineered steel structures and it’s effect on blasting
and painting operations.
• Mixing of the paints and it’s application methods ( Brush/ Roller / Spray).
• Identification of the Coating failures and root causes along with the appropriate
repair remedial.
• HSE guidelines for safe work practice during blasting and painting works.

Areas of Improvements(shortcomings)

• Observed form trainees who has lack of knowledge in feathering techniques while
doing spot repair works. Proper techniques has been thought and advised the same
techniques to use in spot repairs to meet the specification requirements.(Closed)
• Observed from mixing and thinning operation team who has lack of knowledge in
mixing and it’s thinning ratio. Ideas has been thought that how to identify the level
of mixing ratio as per data sheet. (Closed)
• Observed lack of knowledge in acceptance criteria of the specified standards, the
same has been reviewed and advised to follow the requirements to meet the
specified standards. (Closed)
• Observed from the blaster and spray painter who has lack of knowledge in safe
work practice during blasting and painting operations. HSE guidelines has been
thought by INECO HSE department and advised to follow the safe work
practice.(Closed)

Outcomes from the training session

• The training sessions had given the specialized techniques to gain expertise's in the
blasting and painting works. (Positive)
• Knowledge in Environmental conditions and it’s effect on steel structure was found
satisfactory.(Positive)
• Knowledge in Surface preparation standards and it’s effect on steel structure was
found satisfactory.(Positive)
• Root cause of coating failures and it’s repair remedial knowledge was found
satisfactory.
• Analysis has been taken over the blasters and spray painter who yet to attend the
trade test, who’s knowledge in the safe and quality work practice has been improved
tremendously.(Positive)
• Practical assessment classes has been conducted, reflected with the positive
observations with the team who yet to attend the trade test.(Positive)
• Knowledge in safe work practice with the heavy equipment's (Blasting & Spray
machines) was found excellent. (Positive)

Action plan taken to eliminate shortcoming
 Lack of knowledge on technical terms:
A special training session has been conducted for the participants who were noticed to be
lacking or not versatile with painting technical terms to acquaint them with the necessary
word registers
 Lack of knowledge on causes of Coating failures and repair remedial
Sessions have been conducted to the workforce on daily basis and their knowledge on the sub
topic have improved tremendously
 Mixing and thinning of paint:
One personnel has been specifically trained and deployed to take care of mixing and thinning
of paints, as times goes by, more personnel would be trained on the aforementioned
 Lack of technical know-how on feathering technique
Practical classes have been conducted to ensure the personnel have the required ability to carry out
feathering as required and expected.
Their knowledge have been re evaluated after the said practical classes and found satisfactory.

Overcomes/ Current stand

 Following the completion of detailed classes ( Theoretical & Practical ) conducted


to eliminate all shortcomings, the personnel have now acquired enough knowledge
and are now ready to attend the trade test for QG re-evaluation and confirmation.
