INTRODUCTION

 An organizational study is the systematic study about how people as


individuals and as groups act with in organizations
 It involves the study of structure and functioning of its department
 The study was conducted at chirackal agro mills
 Organizational study help me to understand more about an organization and
more than the theoretical knowledge from the books
 The company was established in the year 1991, it is located at Mattoor near
kalady
OBJECTIVES OF THE STUDY

PRIMARY OBJECTIVE
 To understand how a business organization functions in actual practice and
see how theory and practice differ
SECONDARY OBJECTIVE
 To familiarize with the business organizations. So as to relate theory with
practice
 To understand the organization structure
 To familiarize departments in the organization and their functions
 To conduct SWOT analysis of the organization
 To understand the extend of technology adopted in the organization.
METHODOLOGY OF STUDY

PRIMARY SOURCES
 Primary data were collected through direct observation of various activities
and functions and also by consulting the staff and other employees of
organization. Primary data is the most reliable and accurate data.
SECONDARY SOURCES
 Secondary data were collected from company’s internal records, annual
report, from the company website, brochures, catalogues and other concern
books
INDUSTRY PROFILE

 Rice is an important food crop. It spread from India to all directions in Japan,
Philippines, Persia and Egypt. Till that time various other food grains were
popular like millet, barley, and wheat. The introduction of rice led to a
competition between these grains. The origin of rice came from wild species
of grass that grew along the shores of lakes Africa, India and South East Asia.
Today production of milled rice averages about 698 billion pounds (355 million
kilograms) every year.
 India is the major producer of agro commodities in the world, since
independence the food grain production in India has increased almost four
times. India ranks first in the production of tea and sugarcane, second in rice,
fruits, milk and vegetable production. Rice is the staple food of India and
more than 90% of the people in southern parts of India consume rice as their
main food. Punjab is the largest producer of rice which consumes 95% of the
countries rice production.
COMPANY PROFILE

 The Chirackal family, well known for its enterprising spririt, entered the field
as a small scale unit, three decades ago and at presently stands among the
leading rice manufactures in Kerala. PERIYAR RICE was founded by Late.sh.
K.P.DevassyKutty(1926-1999)
 It was more than three decades ago. The Chirackal family introduced in
Kerala, the idea of packed rice. The Chirackal modern rice mill was started
in 1991. The unit started manufacturing rice and the brand was called
“PERIYAR “,going after the great river Periyar on the banks of which
the company stood
 The second unit of the Chirackal Agro Mills was started in 1998 the
machineries for this unit were imported from Japan and the same could
completely remove the unwanted black rice. The mills was the first unit
of its kind to erect a 120 channel sortex machine for “PalakkadanMatta
Rice”,in India

WEAKNESS
 Inadequate advertisement and marketing activities compared to competitors
 Insufficient office space in various department
 High cost of production
 Lack of Research and Development department and inadequate initiative for product
innovation
 Lack of sufficient finance
 Over dependence on import sources for raw materials
 Unable to control the procurement price of raw materials.
OPPORTUNITIES
 The company has many acres of land which will help in the expansion of the
company.
 Presence of migrant labourers helpful in reducing labour cost.
 High demand due to increase in consumption of rice and rice products in the
state and national level.
 Increase in quality conscious customers in Kerala and emergence in malls and
retail outlets like Lulu, Reliance increasing the demand and sales
THREATS
 Tough competition due to rivals from companies outside kerala
 Increasing raw material prices
 Shortage of financial resources
 Fast changing technology
 Fluctuations in the exchange rates affects the exports
 Fluctuations in climates are affecting the raw material procurement
FINDINGS

 Company gives more importance to quality of product
 Good co-ordination among the various departments
 It has a good position in rice production industries in Kerala
 Good working condition
 Good security and safety measures in the factory
 The company has introduced modern technology in production which has increased
efficiency of production and quality of products
 The company is ranked first among the various similar brand
 The products are exported to many countries like Thailand, Egypt, GCC Countries,
Europe.
 Customers have very good opinion about the Periyar brand
 Satisfied customer act as the real promoter of the product.
SUGGESTIONS
 Encouragement can be given to Kerala farmers to produce good quality paddy, so that the transportation
cost of raw material can be reduced.
 Products such as pickles, spices, snacks, sweet dishes should not only be marketed outside Kerala but also
in Kerala. Special initiative should taken to market these goods in Kerala.
 More training facilities can be given to the new workers and also to existing workers.
 Better marketing strategies can adopt such as advertisement in mass media and trade discount to whole
salers and retailers.
 Regular interdepartmental meetings can be conducted to improve team work.
CONCLUSION
 The analysis of the organizational structure and departments of the
CHIRACKAL AGRO MILL were the main objectives of the study. An attempt
was made to understand the strength and weakness of the company and
to know the practical aspect in relation to the theoretical aspect of
the organization. The data with regard to the study collected from
CHIRACKAL AGRO MILL helps to understand the process of pro ducing
rice and wheat. Each department of the company was analyzed in detail
and. Various process are controlled and monitored under skilled
supervision and labourers.
 From the survey the researcher could understand that most of the
customers of CHIRACKAL AGRO MILLS are getting appealed to the
products due to The qualiity , taste and smell and the products are up
to the expectation of the customers. The quality of the product also
satisfies the foreign customers ,helps to increase the exporting
potential of the company. The efficiency and effectiveness of the
departments helps to achieve their organizational goal effectively.
Hygienic packing makes the company ‘s products more appealing to
people.
 From the survey , the researcher has to come to know that all the
workers are satisfied with the working conditions of the company.
The company maintains a good relationship with their customers.
Organisational efficiency is one of the remarkable feature for the
success of the organization. The co-operation and interaction
extended by the employees and management of CHIRACKAL AGRO
MILL made it possible for the in depth organizational study which
would be of much used for the research in future.
