Background History

Cecilio Kwok Pedro, of Chinese descent, was born on

1953 in the Philippines.

• Even when he was young, Pedro already has a knack

for business, selling pens to his schoolmates.
• Graduated from Ateneo de Manila with a degree in
Business Management.
• Doctor of Philosophy in Technological Management by
the Technological University of the Philippines.
• He barrowed ₱20,000 from his father and founded
Aluminum Containers, Inc., supplying collapsible
aluminum toothpaste tubes to Colgate-Palmolive,
Procter & Gamble, and Philippines Refining Company.
• In 1985 he prompt to close his business due to environmental
concern, but he did not allow it to happen and started again
and established Lamoiyan Corporation.

• “HAPPY?” / “Not Colgate?”

• He developed his own brand of toothpaste, Hapee.

• not only is Lamoiyan Corporation known for creating a Filipino

brand toothpaste, but also its commitment to in supporting the
deaf community.
• And since he is devout Christian, Dr. Pedro also founded and
chaired the Deaf Evangelistic Alliance Foundation (DEAF)
which gave scholarship to deaf community, standing by the
company’s motto “To make a difference for the glory of God”.

They tied up with PDA for nationwide medical/dental missions.”
 Corporate Social Responsibility

A Christian entrepreneur who passionately believes in private business

with social conscience, Cecilio K. Pedro has supported the International non-
governmental organization (NGO) Operation Smile Philippines to care for
children afflicted with oral cleft. His factory is unique and noted for employing a
lot of hearing-impared people.

Lamoiyan Corp. has also donated dental equipment and supplies to the
newly inaugurated Manila Cleft Care Center in Sta. Ana Hospital, Manila City.

Cecilio K. Pedro has also donated various public school-building to poor rural
regions of the Philippines through the Operation Barrio School project of the
Federation of Filipino Chinese Chambers of COMMERCE & Industry. Inc.
(FFCCCII), of which he was in March elected one of the civic and business
group new Vice President.
