Civil Engineering Program

Overview
The Bachelor of Science in Civil Engineering
(BSCE) program is a five year program that
educates students with basic principles of Science
in conjunction with mathematics and computational
tools used in Engineering.
The BSCE program provides technical skills
and knowledge in planning, design, construction,
supervision, and maintenance of civil engineering
works.
Fields and Specialization
• Structural Engineering
The scope of practices includes the
calculation of loads and stresses on structures,
strength of foundations and beams and
determining whether or not a structure can
function safely.
• Construction Engineering and Management
Field of Civil Engineering that deals with
the effective planning and implementation of
construction projects.
• Transportation Engineering
The Design and maintenance of
transportation facilities such as highways and
streets, ports and harbours, airfields, railroads,
and mass transit systems.

• Geotechnical Engineering
A specialized field of civil engineering that
involves soil evaluation to determined the
sustainability of particular area for construction.
• Water Resources Engineering

The Design of water treatment plants, pump

system and stations, distribution system for
drinking and non-drinking water, pipelines for
collecting waste water and analysis of the flood
plan or storm water drain systems in prevent and
control water damage.
• Civil Environmental Engineering
The design of systems and solutions to
protect the environment.

How long does it take to complete

BSCE program?
Normally, the BSCE program takes 5 years
to complete. The program may be completed in a
short period of time.
What skills are required to succeed in
BSCE program?
• Mathematical skills
– The ability to compute and use different
computational methods to solve a problem.
• Critical Thinking Skills
– The use of logic and reasoning to identify the
strengths and weaknesses of alternative solutions.
• Analytical skills
– The identification and analysis of product
requirements in creating design.
• Complex Problem Solving Skills
– Identifications of problems and reviewing related
information to develop and evaluate options and
implemented solutions.
• Graphical Skills
– The ability to transform design into image.
• Judgment and Decision making skills
– Considering the relative costs and benefits of
potential actions to choose the most appropriate
one .
• Communications kills
– The ability to effectively relay information both
orally and in written.
