PROJECT AWARDED :

Closed-circuit television (CCTV), also known as video surveillance, is the use

of video cameras to transmit a signal to a specific place, on a limited set of
monitors.

Some of the purpose of CCTV are :

1. To ensure person’s health, safety and protection (from abuse or violence)
2. To guard against theft of goods, information and trade secrets;
3. To monitor person’s performance, attitude and demeanor;
4. To gather evidence in support of court action arising out of any of the above
three reasons.
PROCESS :
1. Accreditation is required by MDC thru “Dun & Bradstreet”
- Must be submit the required list of documents like Company Profile,
Business Permit, and etc.
2. Bidding for CCTV Project by MDC
- MDC will provide the plans, Bill of Quantities and Scope of work.
3. Submission of Proposal
- Proposal is thru sealed bid
4. Awarding or Contract
- MDC will issue a Purchased Order
5. Preparation of Local materials, imported materials, tools and local
fabrication
6. Mobilization
- Deploy manpower, construction of temporary facilities, working permits,
safety orientation at site,
7. Testing & commissioning
- Programming
8. Final Turnover
- Submission of Operating Instruction Manual, Certificate of Completion,
Final Billing
SCENARIO AND REASONS OF WHY CCTV ARE NECESSARY
1. Reduce Cost and Risk
- CCTV security systems prove themselves as the best investment as soon as they are
installed. Full view of your premises and real-time recording as well as remote
online access by owner/manager lowers the risk and prevents costly incidents such
as burglary, fire, vandalism, etc.

2. Prevent and Deter Crime

- Criminals target buildings and facilities when they see there is no monitoring or
watchdog. The very presence of CCTV cameras on an installation is enough to deter
potential criminals and prevent their action at the outset. Similarly, by the sight of a
safety hazard, employees can take the necessary action to reduce the risk and alleviate
the source in the shortest possible times.

IMPLICATIONS OF CCTV SURVEILLANCE IN SOCIETY

- “Supervision, close observation, [and] invigilation of individuals who are not

trusted to work or go about unwatched”. Surveillance has become a part of
society and seems to be everywhere. People are supervised by many different
methods every day. Being a huge part of society, surveillance is continuously
discussed in both the public and private sectors. Being such a widely debated
topic in society today, the implications and complications it brings to the
everyday life are only one of the main areas of focus in many discussions. This
article concludes of how surveillance affect the society by looking at fewer
aspects linked to surveillance. One of the reasons why surveillance causes
implications in social life is because it is everywhere; the idea of surveillance is
transformed from one simple idea of keeping an eye on ones not trusted to
another as technology continued to develop further.
RECOMMENDATION

1. In principle all cameras, live and operational in the system should be

presented to a monitor in the control room all the time with a size /
resolution "fit for purpose“
2. The control room should be staffed 24/7 with sufficient resources to both
monitor the cameras and undertake other duties where required and
allocated.
3. As a minimum requirement all CCTV control rooms should have access to
listen to police radio broadcasts and a national policy on the use of two-way
communication should be established.
4. Recording/Storage must be able to store 30 days
