TITLE
• the study benefits the institution of LSU in such a way that the La
Ferme De La Salle could have a proper electrical system design
• this study will be significant and relevant for the current site
development plan
The researchers will focus on the collection of the data at the site. The
researchers will:
• identify the number of buildings
• count the lighting outlets, convenience outlets, air-conditioning
units, and other necessary electrical loads
• identify the conduit and conductor sizes and circuit breakers
being used
• check the capacity of the transformer
• electric bills since the site is energized
Electrical Assessment
The researchers will analyze and calculate the total demand and
full load current from the gathered data to identify if the current
loads are beyond transformer capacity.
Redesigning of Electrical System
• conduct a cost estimate and financial analysis for the farm’s new
electrical plan
Plan Projection
Where:
V = is the voltage drop in the circuit
I = is the current flowing in conductor
R = is the line resistance for one conductor, in ohms
X = is the line reactance for one conductor, in ohms
Φ = is the angle whose cosine is the load power factor
cosΦ = is the load power factor, in decimals
sinΦ = is the load reactive factor, in decimals

SHORT CIRCUIT CALCULATION PROCEDURE
• Prepare a system one-line diagram showing all elements to be
included in the analysis
• Prepare an impedance diagram showing the system impedances,
most short circuit calculations show impedance in per-unit on a
common MVA base.
• Develop an equivalent circuit of the “outside world”
• Calculate the symmetrical short-circuit current at the buses of
concern
• Apply appropriate multiplying factors to symmetrical short-circuit
currents, as required to reflect the asymmetry of the short-circuit
current.
BASIC POINT-TO-POINT CALCULATION PROCEDURE
STEP 1. Determine the transformer full load amps(F.L.A.) from the nameplate
STEP 2. Find the transformer multiplier(%Z)
