HOW DO YOU PROMOTE ROTARY? WHEN YOU DISCUSS
ROTARY WITH YOUR FRIENDS, NEIGHBORS, BUSINESS
ACQUAINTANCES OR PEOPLE YOU MEET AT WORK.

= Do you tell them about: ´Friendshipµ

= ² In an increasingly complex world, Rotary provides one of the most
basic human needs; the need for friends and fellowship. It is one of the
two reasons why Rotary began in 1905.

= Do you tell them about: ´Business Developmentµ ²

This is the second original reason for Rotary·s beginning. Everyone
needs to network with others. Rotary consists of a cross section of
every business in the community. It·s members come from all walks of
life. Rotarians help each other, and collectively help others.
= Do you tell them how Rotary has given you: ´Personal Growth and
Developmentµ ² Membership in Rotary continues one·s growth and
education in human relations and in personal development.

= Do you explain: ´Leadership Developmentµ ² Rotary is an organization

of leaders and successful people. Service in a Rotary position is like a
college education in leadership; learning how to motivate, influence and
lead leaders.

= How about: ´Citizenship in the Communityµ ² Membership in a

Rotary club makes one a better community citizen. The average Rotary
club consists of the most active citizens of any community.
= Or the importance of : ´Continuing Educationµ ² Each week at Rotary
there is a program designed to keep one informed as to what is going on
in the community, nation and in the world.

= Or maybe you·re a fun-loving person and you tell them about: ´Funµ ²
Rotary is fun, a lot of fun. Social activities are fun and the service is fun.

= Do you like the speaking circuit? Maybe you should tell them about
how Rotary will sharpen your: ´Speaking Skillsµ ² Many individuals
who join Rotary are afraid to speak in public. Rotary helps to develop
confidence and skills in public communication as well as providing
opportunities.
= Or, are you a world traveler and you tell them how Rotary makes you a :
´Citizen of the Worldµ ² Every Rotarian wears a pin that says ´Rotary
International.µ And every Rotarian is welcome ² even encouraged to
attend any of the 32,176 clubs in 166 countries. There are only a few
places on the globe which do not have a Rotary club. The result is
instant friendship, both in one·s own community and in the world.

= Or, tell them of the importance of : ´Assistance When Travelingµ ²

Because there are Rotary clubs everywhere, many Rotarian·s who have
needed a doctor, lawyer, hotel, dentist, advice, etc. while traveling, have
found help quickly through Rotary.
= §re you a party person, if so tell them about the: ´Entertainmentµ in Rotary ²
Every Rotary club and district has parties and activities which provide a
diversion in one·s business life. Rotary has conferences, conventions,
assemblies and institutes which provide entertainment in addition to Rotary
information, education and service.

= Rotary will certainly enhance your: ´Development of Social Skillsµ ² Every

week and at various events and functions, Rotary develops one·s personality,
social, and people skills. Rotary is for people who like people, or who want to
like people more.

= Better yet, Rotary is a: ´Family Programµ ² Rotary provides one of the world·s
largest youth exchange programs; high school and college clubs for future
Rotarians; spouse clubs and programs, and a host of activities designed to
assist family members in the growth and development of family values.
= Don·t forget to explain the importance of: ´Vocational Skillsµ ² Every
Rotarian is expected to take part in the growth and development of his
or her own profession or vocation; to serve on committees; and to teach
youth about one·s job or vocation. Rotary helps to make one a better
doctor, lawyer, teacher, etc. (or whatever one does for a living).

= Being a member gives you the opportunity to follow the 4-Way Test
through the: ´Development of Ethicsµ ² Rotarians practice a 4-Way
Test which governs one·s ethical standards. Rotarians are expected to be
ethical in business and personal relationships.
= Rotary certainly provides us with: ´Cultural §warenessµ ² §round the world, you will
find practically every religion, country, culture, race, creed, political persuasion,
language, color and ethnic identity found in Rotary. It is a cross section of the world·s
most prominent citizens from all backgrounds. Rotarians become aware of other
cultures and learn to love and work with people everywhere. They become better
citizens of their countries in the process.

= Don·t forget to tell them that Rotary is a: ´Prestigious Organizationµ ² Rotary

members are prominent people: business leaders and professionals in the arts,
government, sports, military, religion and all business disciplines. §mong the most
prestigious service clubs, Rotary is the oldest service club in the world. In it·s ranks are
executives, managers and professional people, who make decisions and influence policy.
Not everyone is invited to join Rotary.
= §nd better yet, Rotarians are simply: ´Nice Peopleµ ²
Rotarians, above all, are nice people. Some of the nicest
people on the face of the earth. They are important people
who adhere to the policy that, while it is nice to be
important, it is more important to be nice.

= There is no: ´Official Creedµ ² Rotary has no secret

handshake, no secret policy, no official creed, no secret
meetings or rituals. It is an open society of men and women
who simply believe in helping others.
= §bove all, we have the: ´Opportunity to Serveµ ² Rotary is a
service club. Its business is mankind, its product is service.
Rotarians provide community service to both the local and
international communities. This is the best reason for
becoming a Rotarian - the chance to do something for
somebody else. Then also, the sense of self-fulfillment in the
process and the returns to one·s own life. Rotarians believe in
service above self - it is richly rewarding.

= ´HE PRO ITS MOST WHO SERVES THE BEST.µ
